Does anyone here have experience with the Chilkoot bags and using them in wet conditions? Anyone use them while soaking wet?

Has anyone here used these frames compared to one another? I’m curious as to how they compare concerning heavy and moderate loads as well as general comfort. I currently have an XCurve and it is very rigid. I’m wondering if the other newer frames offer any benefit.

Anyone here pack in and use a 4 person tipi (Cimarron or similar) on a solo backcountry hunt? Seems like it would provide an awesome palace and place to dry off but at a decent weight penalty. Curious to hear thoughts.

Just got back from a couple day hunt with some pretty bad rain. Currently using a Seek Outside Silex with a nest. It basically poured for a day and when I got back to camp, everything I had was soaked. Getting inside the shelter was a cluster as every time I lifted the sides to get gear out...
What are some of your favorite things to pack into the back country for those epic elk hunts y’all do? I’m talking breakfasts, snacks, bars, dinners etc. What are the things you cannot live without that help you get through those high gain hunts? I’m a Cliff bar, salami, cheese kind of guy but I...
Is the Alpha Vertex Vest (and line for that matter) using Primaloft evolve insulation? I didn’t see it in their site but may have missed it. I’ve seen other threads that say it uses Evolve for the interior. Also, is the outer face fabric just a standard lightweight shell or is it a heavier soft...
Anyone have one of these yet? If so, how is it? Is it a wind shell and if not, what is it’s purpose? Seems interesting.

I currently use a Klamath hoody. Doesn’t block wind but that’s to be expected. What’s the best fleece out there for warmth, wind resistance and moisture management (ie dries fast)?

Has anyone replaced their grid fleece or normal fleece mid layer with the Ambient? If so, how is it holding up and does it work better than your fleece?

I’m gonna grind up my black tail next week. What do y’all like to mix it with and what % do you find is best?
Also, I want to make summer sausage as well. Should I keep whole chunks of meat to grind into the sausage or can I use the ground burger from above for it?

I shot a cow last year and processed it myself. I used some pig fat from a pig we had butchered. Usually the fat makes it taste awesome but this year it’s awful. It tastes “weird”. I can’t even describe it. It’s beyond super gamey tasting. Almost rancid. The pig fat should have been fine as...
Besides the Sitka Mountain Jacket and a dedicated rain shell, what else is out there that works as a lightweight windPROOF shirt/jacket? What do y’all use?
