    NXS 3.5-15x50

I run one on the muzzy in my profile picture. They're awesome scopes and work very well for hunting. They're not as heavy as newer "tactical" options but like jofes mentioned, they're heavier than the 10x version. If buying new, the 4-32x NX8 is more versatile and few oz lighter. If...

    8x as Primary Glassing Optic?

I hunted with just 15x for a few years and rarely felt like I needed anything else. They were annoyingly too much magnification in tight areas, but I just knew it was going to be a problem and got used to it. They were FANTASTIC at glassing 300-1700+ yards for spotting animals. Eventually I...

    Burris Optics Overall Impressions/Reliability

I've been a fan of Burris optics since my first one I bought back in the late 90s. I went through a phase where my rifles only wore Burris Black Diamond's and I had a lot of success with those. I went away from them for a few years as I got into the long range game and they didn't have a scope...

Alpha scope for hunting really worth it?

There is no "perfect" scope as every situation may require something else. How important is weight? How important is magnification? What features do you feel are "must have" for your style of shooting/hunting? For me, I could get by very easily with a NF NXS in 2.5-10x, 3.5-15x, or 5.5-22x...

    WTS McMillan Adjustable Game Warden

This is a McMillan Adjustable Game Warden for right hand Remington 700 short actions and clones with an inlet for M5 bottom. The barrel channel fits a Remington Varmint contour well. It includes the pic rail up front and will have the rear sling stud installed again too if you'd like. The...

(Looking for some advise) Prairie Dog Optics

I'd look for an old Burris Black Diamond 4-16 or 6-24x with their Ballistic Mill Dot reticle. The Fullfield 2 with that same reticle works good too but the glass isn't as nice. While I've moved on from "ballistic" reticles, that reticle was freaking awesome for shooting prairie dogs out to 500...

    NX8 scoped LR hunting rig

FFP if you ever plan on using the reticle or holdovers or wind holds. The NX8 FFP reticles function well enough for close range hunting at lower magnifications when all you need to see is a crosshair, but work well for precise holdovers and wind holds using the reticle as long as you're at a...

223 hand loads for prairie dogs

The Nosler Ballistic Tips. They shot awesome in a 7 twist AR too and the RPM’s were so high the squirrels helicoptered more often when hit. Great fun.

223 hand loads for prairie dogs

I had a Ruger like yours and it flat out rocked with 40 grain Ballistic Tips and a stout loud of Benchmark or Varget. To 400 yards that load was lights out and the increased speed of the lighter bullet was great for the splat factor.

You went from high quality 15’s to NL Pure 12s… Get in here!

The difference between 15x and 12x was VERY noticeable to me and two hunting partners. All 3 sets of 15x56 (Minox, Vortex, and Swaro) showed a much larger/magnified image than my 12x NL Pure. It made seeing details easier even though the images weren't necessarily as sharp. I know that sounds...

    Glassing setups

Binos: 12x42 NL Pure or 8x32 EL Spotter : Meopta S2 30-60X WA Tripod: RRS Ascend The binos swap out depending on the hunt but 12x have got the nod the last 2 years. The spotter is beautiful but heavy. I keep debating about going to a smaller spotter but I think I’d miss the big girl every...

Taping Recoil Lug When Glass Bedding

Back of the lug is where you should always maintain contact. I typically give 2 layers of tape on the bottom and 1 layer of tape on the sides because it makes it way easier to get out of the stock. If the lug is tapered it's hardly an issue, but on some of the straight lugs if you don't get...

    Welcome to Born Primitive Clothing

I guess I could always get the full zippered version since it has pockets. It really does look like a great fleece.

    Welcome to Born Primitive Clothing

I really wish they had put pockets on this. I have a Swazi hood that lacks pockets for my hand and I find myself reaching for a pocket all the time. Other than the lack of pockets, your review makes it sound like this would be a perfect fleece for me. Hopefully they release a gen 2 with a...

    Nightforce comparisons

For 400 yards and in I'd take the 10x every time. It's smaller and lighter and still has all the functionality you could need. I have the 15x NXS on my muzzy but I keep thinking about picking up the 10x for a lighter weight option.

    Kodiak 12 x 16 tent

That’s exactly what I wanted to hear. We did 3 guys in an old 9x12 and it worked on. I got home and started looking at a 10x14 flexbow but I think the 12x12 cabin with an annex will be more versatile for hunting and family trips.

    Kodiak 12 x 16 tent

Have you liked your 12x12 though? I’m thinking a 12x12 with an annex would be killer but the 12x16 would be so deluxe. I just wonder if it’s hard to find spots big enough for the 12x16.

    Spotting Scope Size Recomendation

For me it comes down to how much time I'll spend with the optic in various activities. I shoot varmints and targets WAAAAAY more than I hunt big game in the back county so I went with an 82mm spotter. I pack that thing everywhere even on backpack hunts because the image is worth the weight. I...

    NX8 site in problems

Reset the zero stop and you should be able to get it dialed down enough. You'll remove the turret, adjust the clutch plates to be further apart, and you should be able to get sighted in, then set the zero stop to your new zero and you'll be good to go.
