I ended up going with the SG Solo 3300. I talked to a few people that had experience with this pack. Looking forward to it - thank you for the responses!
I've been reading reviews on packs, and sort of have it narrowed down to 2. But which pack in this range would be best to haul the rifle around with as well? I have the Eberlestock X1 with rifle scabbard and love it, but need more pack.
Right now, looking at Stone Glacier 3300 or Mystery...
You'll have to get on a waiting list with Greg. I'm on the list and hoping to get the call this year. Check High West Outfitters also. Younger guy running it and they take some nice deer. Desert Safaris is another. Outfitters are harder to come by in Texas.
I think the above statements are pretty accurate and what I was expecting. I do agree that summer scouting helps to get a lay of the land, the roads, etc. To some people this may not be as valuable as to others. For me, it's valuable. Just getting comfortable with the area, where to go, what...
Heck I think the camo pattern is actually the best out there as far as blending in. Deer and elk are brown. They were made to blend in. I like all shades of brown. Think of the places you hunt. Unless above timberline, the primary color is brown.
Yeah probably a dice roll as to if they move, migrate, get killed or get bumped. I think a lot of the Colorado units are migratory, but by October 20th - 30th, they definitely haven't made it to the wintering grounds. Yes they'll be in the timber, but I bet close by to where you see them in...
Anyone heard if Kryptek will release anything new this year? Not to be sexist, but in the men's line and non-altitude. No one can afford the altitude stuff.
Has anyone had much luck scouting in June, July, August for a 2nd season mule deer tag? Central to southern part of Colorado is the area. I think a 2nd season tag is pretty darn tough, but I just wondered if you couldn't find a deer to hunt in the summer and with a little luck, he still be in...

Wondering why you don't hear much about Kryptek? I'm in need of a few items to add to my arsenal. Kryptek seams nicely priced, the pattern isn't bad, so it made me wonder. I would get Sitka, but hate to be "that guy" wearing the expensive stuff. But I do like their subalpine pattern as well...
