So I was looking at each of the website's descriptions for the detergents. It appears that Atsko markets their wash as "Residue Free Detergent" that won't "clog the pores of your fabric".
All Free and Clear claims there is "no irritating residue". However, if there are UV brighteners it may...
Ya I'd have to agree, with the amount of money spent on this gear, a person would probably be wise to take every precautionary measure they can to keep it up to par.
Thanks! The ALL Free n Clear is actually what we use normally due to my daughter havi
Good to know as this is what we normally use due to my daughter having sensitive skin. Thanks guys!
Hey guys, great info here on the thread. I had purchased the ArmaTech half zip and ArmaFleece Hoodie earlier and was very impressed. After reading the reviews here I took the plunge.......So I now have the Bora pants, vest, beanie, neck gaiter and jacket, along with the Ghar jacket. Everything...
Just ordered me a pair of Hanwag Alverstone II GTX. Seem to be very similar to the Scarpa R-Evolutions with a little more flex according to what the customer service rep told me. I'll post up some initial thoughts on them when I get them.
I've researched this a bit as well and found that, as others have mentioned, additive seems to be the correct answer for the multiple sleeping pad R-value question.
As to which pad would go on top? According to a few forum posts I've read on backpacking light, they say, "in theory", the closed...
I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the Danner's once you've had the opportunity to use them for a while. Look like a nice boot.
For whatever reason, I seem to think I need something with a full rand. I like the idea of having a surface there around the bottom of the boot for a little...
After buying the high-end stuff I would say, IMO, yes it is worth it simply due to the fact of the durability and warranty (lifetime). Have had several "lighter weight" cheaper sets (FroggToggs, Cabelas Space Rain, Onyx, Red Ledge), and the condition I hunt in typically has me in brushy areas...
Following along here as I was just about to possibly pull the trigger on a pair of Lapponia's. But as Krojemann mentioned I'm a little worried about the heel issue as I've had the exact same experience with Crispi Guides. Seemed to be a great boot but really chewed up my heels when going up...
Hey Newmexican,
I was a faithful First Lite guy but wanted a softshell system which they did not offer at the time. Was not impressed with the Corrugate guides for my specific uses. So, I checked out Sixsite and their no questions asked LIFETIME WARRANTY and thought what heck why not.
I've got...
Hi Alec,
The seams have not been sealed. As far as the netting goes, yes I believe you could repair the netting yourself. The best would be to completely sew in new pieces on the upper portion of both ends as there are little holes all over. The other areas could be patched witch some gear...
I've got a Tarptent Moment DW I'd let go cheap but I'm thinking at 6'3" you may be a bit big for it. It got an 84" long footprint I believe so that might be cutting it a little short. Anyway, If you think you'd be interested let me know and I can send some info and pics.
Just got back from 10 days in Unit 48. Seems to be plenty elk in some areas, some areas not so much. And there are definitely wolves in the area we were in. Had them howling not far from the tent on more than one occasion. I agree with TWP, get up high and glass for the elk. The area is steep...
Great thread guys! I've often thought that I've been moving way too fast and it's definitely an area I need to work on as I have yet to get an elk after three unsuccessful archery attempts. I can think of two different instances where I could have had legitimate chances at getting an elk had I...
Also should read this if you haven't already. It's a very good article from someone who has great success on these style hunts. It's at the top of the elk forum page as well.

I know the feeling. Being from Minnesota and unable to do any pre-scouting it can be a daunting task. At times it can seem overwhelming! I am no expert by any means as I still have yet to harvest an elk after 3 unsuccessful attempts. I've archery hunted both Colorado and Idaho and will be going...
First elk hunt with an Eberlestock JP9 and spike duffle. Pack worked great for camp and gear along with converting to a day pack but wasn't fortunate enough to try pack an elk out with it.
