I've got the Montbell altiplano (japan site only), the alpine down parka and used to have the Plasma 1000. From Cumulus I've got the incredilite endurance and one of my hunting buddies bought the mountlite at the same time. Also I used to have a katabatic tincup, which I found a little too...
I'm in Canada. The shipping to Whitehorse was fairly reasonable. Just looking at my receipt for a sleeping bag I bought a little while ago, they charged me $19 USD for shipping to Whitehorse through DHL.
My montbell and cumulus puffy coats have held up better than my kuiu. I've worn them while doing camp chores between clients and I've also worn them quite a bit in the off season around town. I also found the kuiu had more down leakage than any of the mountaineering brands.
Cumulus, high grade down, light weight, less expensive and better than any of the hunting brand puffy jackets I've owned. I'd put Montbell and Katabatic right in there too. I went a little overboard with puffy coats a while ago and tried a bunch.
Here is the release of some of the sheep survey data for the Kluane Lake region (https://yukon.ca/sites/yukon.ca/files/env/kluane_region_sheep_population_surveys_2023_-_summary.pdf). Wait and see what YG proposes, historically they have reduced resident and outfitter hunting opportunities in...
The SW Yukon around Kluane lake has seen the biggest declines in their sheep populations. We've had a few years of heavy snowfall that resulted in some tough winters for sheep in those regions. YG is now discussing bringing in some adaptive management for zones in the SW for the 2024 hunting...
I don't think you would find a lot of difference between FF or WM, they both make great bags. I own a few bags from both and wouldn't hesitate to buy from either company again. Even when I have needed repairs both companies have been great to deal with. I would add Cumulus equipment to the...
A few years ago went through the same decision. I bought a fulcrum, SG sky talus 6900, and an exo k3 and tried them all out. I liked the fulcrum, it was a very well made bag but I just couldn't get it comfortable with any weight in it. I ended up going with the Stone Glacier because it (and...
No experience with the Anaris, but I have used a tarptent stratospire 2 li which is another trekking pole tent. While it was nice and light I did worry about it's stormworthiness above tree line.
I've used an Akto for a lot of years. I had to sit out a storm for 2 days a couple of seasons...
Used a Nallo 2 GT for a couple of years with the one outfit I guided for and also have an Anjan 3 GT for when I bring the girlfriend and the dog along in the summer months. Loved the Nallo. Easy to pitch although it did require a bit more real estate than some of my other tents. Shitty...
Amazon.ca has the Anker panel in stock, not sure what their policy is on shipping south of the 49th. Otherwise I've heard some good things about the Big Blue 28w panel although it is a little heavier. I use an Anker panel when guiding, but if it's a hunt less than a week I just bring a battery...
Guided a hunter up here in the Yukon who was shooting almost the exact same load. Shot his grizzly at just over 300 yards, bear spun around and ran 12 yards before piling up dead. Bullet placement was just behind the right shoulder, took out the top of the heart before exiting through the left...
Had good results loading for a friends 7 saum with N560, 7828ssc and reloder 26. With 175 gr bergers we were right around 2900 fps out of a 24 inch barrel with all 3 powders, N560 produced the best groups.
