I ran some numbers the other day looking at the 53 Vmax and the 62 Vt in a 22 creed. It looked like they were close to the same drop/drift with a 400 fps difference. If you can shoot them @3350 fps it seems like a solid improvement over the 53's for you.
If I remember correctly you have a Tikka 22-250 with a 1-8 twist? How fast are you shooting the 53’s from it?
It’ll be interesting to see how the 62’s do for you. I’m thinking of loading some up for the 22 Creed and seeing how they do.
They are changing the res/non res quota this year. It’s going from 65/35 to 75/25. I would take that into account if you really want to draw this year for sure. Something that took 5 last year might take 6 this year depending on the amount of tags. If there are 1000 tags for a hunt code it won’t...
I use one a lot. I pack them with a gun bearer, by hand, clamped to the tripod, etc. Haven’t had any issues packing them.
I’ve never had issues using them in more extreme temps. This year I used one in Nevada in August and North Dakota in January. Fairly diverse range of temps imo.
Some have...
I've used one. Obviously there are positives and negatives.
It works fine for coyote hunting. A dedicated weapon sight is easier to use than a clip on though. Depending on what you are doing, the type of weapon, (AR/bolt in regular stock/bolt in chassis) scopes on each weapon, distance, one is...
I have it. Works well. I believe the Ollin is probably the best overall especially for speed. But the Scopecam fits way more eye pieces for the price.
I can wirelessly charge my phone with the plate stuck to the case.
I have one and shot to 3050 fps with zero pressure signs. 105 grain. So far it doesn't shoot like I would like at all accuracy wise. I'm going to try another bullet and hopefully test it this week depending on weather.
Definitely looks like a good price. I don’t think it has an LRF which the OP asked for. Also 3x base mag might be tough on close range hog hunting.
I’ve never hog hunted though so maybe 3x isn’t bad?
400 yards is a long shot at night with a budget thermal. To have a LRF and stay under $4k I think you will need to go with a 384 unit or maybe AGM has something in that price range?
When hogs are in the mix everything I’ve seen says close range, low mag, large field of view.
300+ yard range...
I got a couple of the Sofirn’s for the exact same thing. I don’t use a light every stand depending on how bright it is. That being said I’ve never had the battery run out.
