Ruger M77 in 270 WSM. Shot through multiple factory loads until I found one it liked and settled on Federal Premium with 130 grain Barnes bullets. Unfortunately, it's dang near impossible to find any factory ammo.
Had a set of binocs where the eye cups simply stopped working correctly literally days before my clients arrived to hunt Coues deer. Called Vortex and they overnighted a set to use as replacements while mine were being repaired. I'm still amazed by that and I've purchased many new sets of binocs...
I have used both and there are advantages/disadvantages to both.
I like the comfort the big binocs have with using them all day. My eyes don't get as tired as they do with the spotter.
I just can't pick out all the points as clearly at distance and decisively tell the size of the animal...
GIF told me it would be a good idea to camp in a meadow below the road to allow quick access to a Glassing spot that would enable me to see a HUGE canyon. 10 straight days of rain later, the road was a muddy, sloppy mess. Needed to chain all 4 tires just to get my truck back to the main road...
I can't say enough great things about Vortex customer service. They have re-conditioned my binocs every time they've needed it and never have charged me more than the shipment back.
However, hunting in AZ where there are over 15 different species of rattlesnakes, tarantulas, and other creepy crawly things-a floor is REALLY comforting.
