    Work outs away from Home

I spend the vast majority of my time away from home in camp or hotels. This paired with long days does not leave a lot of time (or ambition) to go for a run or find a gym. In the past I tried to get into the P-90X workouts, but limited room and the impact to my knees wasn't working. What are...

Calling all swarovski spotting scope owners!

I found a butler creek flip open cap that fits tightly over the eyepiece. The cap was cut down to allow full adjustment of the eyepiece. Not perfect, but seem to stay on much better than the swaro cover.

    Who snowshoes?

I'm currently using MSR Lighting Ascents. For Christmas I bought my 3 and 6 year old MSR Tykers, they love them. Great way to spend a day with the little ones. As a side note a 3 year old can ride comfortably in a Timberline 2 when their legs play out on the way home.

    Nightforce vs. Swarovski Riflescope

Those zeiss look very nice, but the large objective makes me concerned and the scope weight is listed at over 18 oz. I had a VX-3 with a 50mm objective on my 7mm, didn't like the high mounting required. A VX-3 4.5-14x40 CDS at approx 14.5 oz is always an excellent choice. If only swaro made the...

    Nightforce vs. Swarovski Riflescope

I was faced with the same dilemma for my 280 build. The swaro Z5 3.5-18x44 has excellent glass, the magnification range is great and the dail up has proved repeatable with the scope mounted on my 300 win. The Leupold ultra-lights are proven mountain scopes, but they just don't work for my eye. I...

    Louisiana August 2013

The end of August 2013 will be the 10 year anniversary with my wife and she has decided that trip back to New Orleans is in order to celebrate. So this means I will not be on a mountain for opening day of sheep season in Alberta (o well, just have to go later in the season). Any suggestions or...

    Favorite Bino Cover Pack?

Got a S4 lock down for Christmas, going to give it a try. I have butler creek scope caps on my bino objective lenses and the one piece leupold eyepeice cover is attached to the bungee cord strap on the S4. So far so good. Only takes a second to pop the caps open and lenses are protected.

    Nikon

Anyone have any input on a Nikon spotting scope EDIII. Currently one of the big three is not an option. Is the 60mm objective suitable to take advantage of the 20 to 60 zoom? Durability is a concern as this is primarily advertised as a birdwatching scope. Optically I don't believe there will be...

    Compact Spotting Scope

Does anyone have experience with Zeiss Dialyt Spotter? They state weight at 42oz and 15-45x zoom, may be an option as a compact. I can't seem to find a ED50 to try.

Tough pack choice Eberlestock j107M or mystry ranch CC

I was in the similar situation. I have a J107 and like the versatlity, but fully loaded with a spike duffel gets interesting. Heavy loads are not so fun. For a person that only has one pack and trips are short, not really a problem. I was looking at the crew cab until I found the Timberline 2...

    Timberline

After having this same conversation with Aron I went with the T2. Being on the short side figured it was better to go wider than taller when extra capacity is required. T2 with a couple long pockets, XTL lid and some pouches kicks the cubic inches up quickly. Strip off what is not needed at your...

    Who uses 4 fletch arrows?

I have never tried a 4 fletch set up. I understand the increased drag of 4 vanes over 3 will aid in stabilization, providing it is an increase of overall vane surface area. How does a 4 fletch low profile act vs. 3 fletch blazer with a smaller broadhead like a sliktrick? Just curious if this is...
