i use straw bales. I guess the ones i get are packed tighter, only time i go through is when i find the gap between bales. I am shooting a 525 grain arrow going 185fps.
If you have been on the fence about doing one of these events, its time to jump off. What a great event! The competitors, the volunteers, and the host location were all great! I have been trying to figure out how to get to a couple more next year, and hopefully nationals, if I can qualify again.
I bike a bunch as well. Built up a new road bike earlier this year.

I use the GoRuck plates as well. I have a #20, and a #30 between the frame, and my bag. works great, plus I can still put jackets, and water in th pack easy.
I found a video on youtube that broke down distances. If i remember correctly max for trad would be around 45. I am shooting trad as well, and that was what I could find. I will try to find it again.
I have an eberlestock bag for my long range rifle, that i have used in some matches. it does not have a frame, and can't imagine dropping 100lbs in it. with my rifle, bags, ammo, and rest of my gear it is probably getting close to 60lbs. Thats about enough in that bag for me. Thank you for the...
