Yes, it does seem odd. Many would probably argue that there are better choices as far as chamberings these days such as the jesusmore but I don't see going away from the 308 myself anytime soon. I have plenty of components for the 308 and do not see myself investing in another caliber anytime...
Gonna do Colorado. Still looking into which unit. Would like to pick an either sex unit but haven't got that far.

I have killed 4 antelope and 1 whitetail with that bullet out of a .308 and only ever recovered 1 out of the animals.
Wife has taken 4 antelope with them out of her gun.
Buddy also killed one with my gun.
The one I recovered looked like the pictures. It was a frontal shot and the bullet was...
I really appreciate all the input! I've been trying to read and watch videos on YouTube. I do not have high expectations, but I'm gonna give her a go. Still doing research. Hope to make up our mind before the Idaho tags go on sale.

Guy that does my bow work uses Exodus broadheads and he shoots just over 50 pounds. He killed a moose this year up in Alaska with them too.

I understand that both states have high hunting pressure. Logistically, Colorado would be cheaper. One of the leaning points for Idaho was tag costs and with some tags, you could use the deer tag on other species. Looks like for next year, Idaho is raising fees.
I think I have a pretty...
Hello all,
We are planning an elk trip for 2021. Initially we were planning Idaho, but I've been reading there is more and more out of state pressure.
We are looking at otc rifle tags
I understand my chances are stacked against me. Anyone have pointers to help sway our decision?
I have been...
I use the 168 ttsx in a 308 and 110 in 300 blackout. I have never been disappointed in probably almost 15 whitetail and antelope between them.
Only bullet I recovered was out of an antelope facing me. Shot square in the front and stopped at the femur. Bullet looked like the pictures.
Don't...
I have been out in the general area you are speaking of the past 5 seasons and was only out on opener once. I usually leave here Friday after work before the first full week after opener.
The first year I went out was around the 15th and I did not see another hunter in my unit and the antelope...
For whitetail in Wisconsin I run a 300 blackout with an 8" barrel with the Barnes 110gr bullets.
Longer reach or as long as I need, I have a Christensen classic in .308.
