One requirement for me is that it’s adjustable.
I use flatline ops tube mounted levels, and I have some Spuhr levels on their mounts, the accessory, not the one that comes on the base.
I could never get away with not using one. I’m constantly finding I’m not level, especially on broken...
I’m thinking tikka 223, with a 24” m24, shooting Berger 85.5 suppressed, at 18ish pounds would be a fun rifle.
And if the heavy stock comes, a straight 1.2” barrel channel inlet please.
Iv seen a rifle speed up enough that a seemingly safe load early on caused pressure. Velocity = pressure. If your gun is making what you would reasonably expect I wouldn’t worry about backing down.
I’m a cleaner, even after not cleaning a while. I don’t have enough barrels under me doing...
I’d be interested possibly in a heavy fill rokstock. After playing around with what Iv got of course.
I’m not a huge chassis fan. Not even on my match gun. The more I shoot my hunting guns the more I contemplate seeing if manners will make me a heavy full eh1.
But if it was an option on...
Anyone use Starline? I got 1k coming. No lapua and adi, while consistent, dosnt have the tightest primer pockets.
Curious on thoughts particularly how it relates to lapua.
Depends, last two 100-150 really sped up.
I took a sub 200 round barrel to a match one time and had it speed up over 100fps. Since then I told myself I’d not put a lot of trust in a barrel till it has 200 rounds on it.
Velocity = pressure. Even it everything is handling it.
The above poster noted some pressure numbers with your load. Now imagine those with another 80-160 fps added on. Add in some moisture and you’re asking for problems.
6 creed and h4350 is a pretty easy combo to load for really.
I don’t typically fully trust a ladder to establish pressure at all unless my barrel is broken in. Like a said above not uncommon to see 100 +\- fps.
I actually just broke in a 6 creed. Started at 2850 and ended at 2990.
For hunting, LRP. Better ignition, thicker cup resists some of the issues with field conditions.
The only benefit to the small rifle primer creedmoor brass is a little more material in the case head making pockets last a little longer, and that you can use cheaper more available primers. On...
Got me a 223 bolt, now I can get a match 223 barrel and shoot matches on the cheap.
Part of me likes my 6 creed, but another part of me just wants to burn 24 grains of powder at a pop, shoot 40 cent or less bullets and enjoy 3k plus barrel life.
Alpha or Peterson is near lapua and what I would choose.
I’d bet money it’s the used brass and not a chamber problem.
One way you could confirm too is to buy some factory ammo, Berger makes 6 creed in lapua brass and you could have some lapua that way.
Let us know how it shoots as well...
I didn’t see that either initially reading.
New barrel=new brass. Sometimes it works but sometimes it dosnt. Even if they spun it on themselves you can’t guarantee that brass fired in another chamber will work in yours, even if full length sized.
Try again with new brass and a below max...
I’d bet this is happening cause you’re shooting an extremely hot load.
Especially if it’s a new rifle I wouldn’t be suprised if that barrel sped up 100 + fps.
Personally for the first 200 rounds of 6 creed I’d be starting around 40 grains of h4350.
Not being able to size the shoulder may...
Iv trained myself to look at it every shot.
Even on a rifle that dosnt have one I still find myself looking at where it would be.
No way I could get away with it shooting in different locations, from different positions.
