Got my SG Grumman jacket this week. I’m 6’1” and 195 with long arms. I went with a large and it fits perfectly. It’s loose enough for layers, but snug enough to fit under a shell, and the sleeve length is perfect.
Very impressed with the quality of the jacket. The color looks much better...
100% agree.
I bought a .260 because I could get Lapua brass. Now that the same is an option for the 6.5 Creedmoor, that'll likely be my next chambering when this barrel starts to go.
<--- Elk backpack hunter with a slant towards the ultralight.
I go ultralight when and where it makes sense - a DCF pack probably isn't the best option when hauling meat is a consideration, for instance. However, if hunting solo in the early season, my shelter + pad + quilt would come in at...
I'd probably go with elastic, but the "no elastic" has me curious.
The zippered sleeves option sounds interesting. You could go from "formal" to Larry the Cable Elk Guide.
Randy and Steve are the two guys that I link to when passing along info to new hunters.
I very much appreciate what they do.
It's kind of a weird thing to read, see, and hear all the content that guys like them put out without really getting a chance to let them know how much it's appreciated...
How do you like the sleeves with no elastic?
Pretty sure I'm going to add one of these for this year. Was looking at a Kelvin Lite, but dang if I don't like the features of the Nunatak.
I wish I could grow a mustache like Callaghan had. That sucker was majestic.
My attempt at a mustache looks like it belongs on a guy on a website that includes the phrase "not allowed within 1000' of a school."
Saying that you believe the Kifaru is superior due to its durability is entirely reasonable. Likewise, it is just as entirely reasonable for me to say that I believe the Nunatak is superior because it's more than seven ounces lighter in a size Large and offers far more sizing and fill options...
I've got a 0-degree down Enigma that's long/xwide and really like the size. I debated between the wide and x-wide when I ordered and am glad I got the extra width. Really like the Enigma, btw.
I was wanting to go with a pure quilt style (no closed footbox) for three season use. Don't know if...
More durable to you is unnecessarily heavy to me, this making it less superior.
You wouldn't presume to say that you're the ultimate arbiter of what's the best piece of gear for each person, would you?
I'm a fan of the NeoAir XTherm in the Large size (not MAX). For your size that would give you plenty of room to move around and the R-value of 5.7 will keep you warm. It also come in at only 20 ounces or so.
The downside is that some people find them noisy. I don't, but it's a personal...
I had a BPWD center zip bug bivy made longer and wider. It's got a .74 DCF bathtub floor with taller walls and Argon 90 from the foot up the mesh head cover where it starts at the chest. I added stake down loops at the bottom of each corner and loops at the top of each corner to keep the sides...
Interested to see what you think.
I'm thinking about adding an Apex quilt for three-season use to go along with my Enigma 0-degree bag. I wish they offered the Revelation in long/x-wide. I toss and turn a bit and have found the extra width is handy for me.
