Looking for advice for Winter boot, please read entire thread

There are a couple of tricks to making the pac boots better for walking. I wear my pac boots far more than the leather hiking/work/mountain boots if it's sloppy, wet, and cold and comfortably walk around in them 1. Size them snug like a hiking boot. Not tight, if they are too tight your toes...

    PAC boots?

I second this. I have extensive use of both Hoffman and Schnee's pac boots. The wool liners are definitely warmer than the thinsulate. I have both Hoffman Mountaineers and Schnee's Extremes. They are both good boots and good companies to deal with. The insulated bottoms on both models make...

    Cold feet

The rubber boots are the problem, your feet will sweat and there's nowhere for the sweat to go. One option I did not see was for rubber bottom, leather upper pac style boots. They're perfect for sitting in a tree stand. My feet start getting cold in the mid/low 40's when not steadily moving...

Durable softshell jacket that doesn't have a high flappy collar?

I'm looking for a softshell that doesn't have the high zip collar that is always flapping around and hitting me in the chin. I prefer the zipper to stop at the base of my neck like a typical hoodie. I like the Kuiu Guide jacket, but it has the high zipper collar.

Need help finding a Polartec fleece hoodie with a low neck

I'd like to find a Polartec fleece hoodie that the zipper doesn't come all the way up and stab you in the neck or under the chin. Something like a standard Carhartt hoodie just in Polartec fleece. Or, a simple pullover hoodie with a pocket on the front that stops at the neckline. I have a...

    Short Boot Struggle Bus

I have a weak left ankle and pronation problems with it. I've tried everything except the Zamberlin in a short boot. The most ankle support I've found was a Hanwag Alaskan in size 11. The toe box was too small so I tried an 11w and 11.5 wide. That helped with the toe box issue, but the rest...

    Schnees Eyelet pressure

I had a lot of trouble finding any boots that fit me well while shopping this fall. I have been wearing 11 mediums for my whole adult life and I turned fifty in August. Naturally, I ordered all the boots I tried on in a size 11 medium and none of them fit well. I decided to go to a local shoe...

    Boot for bad ankles

Did you try a wide? I don't wear a wide in any other boot, but in the Schnee's, I need a wide. In the regulars, the toe box seems unusually tight to me also.

    Boot for bad ankles

I've tried on both the Beartooth and Guides. The Guides are roomier in the toe box, more like the Tibets. I found that I needed a wide in the Beartooth which fixed the toe box room issue. The Beartooth seems like a better made boot to me.

Do Lacrosse felt pac liners fit in Kenetrek Northerns?

Put them in the Kenetrek's and try them. I use Hoffman wool felt liners in my Schnee Pac boots that came with thinsulate liners all the time.

    Schnees Eyelet pressure

I put them on for an extended try on in my house and the pain kept getting worse so I sent them all back. I'm really disappointed, I really liked them, I just can't wear them.

    Schnees Eyelet pressure

I have the same problem with Beartooths and the Timberlines. The first two eyelets press on the top of my foot on the instep side right behind the big toe joint. Those two boots have a low amount of vertical volume inside. The Beartooths are also very narrow. I tried both 11 mediums and 11...

    Boot for bad ankles

I'm currently wear a pair of Tibet LL and am searching for something with more ankle support as a replacement. I can roll my ankle with the Tibets. The upper ankle area is a bit soft, they're decent, but not as supportive as I'd like. I recently tried the Hanwag Alaskans and they're much...
