This may apply to more than spring bear, but this is where I typically encounter the issue. With creeks running higher than usual this year due to heavy snowmelt, I found myself misjudging a crossing or two and having water over my gaiters ( not waterproof but generally ok if I am quick enough)...
Looking for any info on differences between the two glomits. It looks like the Northstars are a little heavier and possibly more waterproof? Are the Super Pro warmer? How is the Kuiu sizing on glomits if wearing a thin merino liner? Any info is much appreciated.
A forest order was issued closing Eldorado National Forest thru September 30.
Major bummer! I have 9 cameras and many miles of scouting in D5 this summer. No archery season and half of rifle season gone. This sucks
Hornady Auto Charge used for around 250 rounds for sale. No longer needed after I switched to a Dillon 550. Comes with demonstration cd and owners manual. $185 tyd
Do any of you treat your boots with permethrin? Any effect on materials or waterproofing? I have always treated my boots prior to spring bear, but my boots didn’t cost a small fortune until now.
Any input would be appreciate.
Bought these from Black Ovis last week. To stiff for my liking but clearly a high quality boot. I wore them approximately 6 miles with aftermarket insoles. I have replaced the aftermarket insoles with the original Crispi insoles. Unfortunately I threw away the box or I would ask to return...
My bow has recently started making high pitch noises at/near full draw. The bow Is a Halon 6. The strings were replaced at the beginning of last season with ABS. Not sure what is going on with this. Any insight would be appreciate.
Newer to reloading and working on a ladder for my Tikka T3x lite .300wm. So far this is what I have:

Heading north to look for bear tomorrow. Any Redding area folks have any good public land spots that are accessible this time of year. I know there are several areas closed due to recent fires. Coming from Modesto, I am willing to drive up near Shasta but would hate to waste the hours driving...
Curious what most of you are using for game bags while bear hunting. I see game bags marketed for caribou, elk, moose and deer but nothing specifically marketed at bear hunters.
Didn't get my picks for units this year but I did get my General Deer Combo, so plenty of opportunity. Anyone get a unit that they have been waiting for?
My understanding is that many ca black bear do not hibernate all winter but hibernate sporadically. Does anybody know how to tell when the period of hibernation begins in the d5-d6 areas? Do storms drive the bears into rest or is it food sources drying up?
After hunting higher elevations last...
I just purchased a t3x lite in 300 win mag and am looking for the right scope. I would like to keep the weight down but also have decent magnification. So far, I have narrowed it down to the Swarovski z5 3.5x18x44mm. It weighs just under 16 ounces.
Are there other options that I am...
I just purchased my first spotting scope (Vanguard Endeavor HD 65) after reading many of the reviews here regarding entry level spotters. I have a Vanguard Alta 263ap tripod with a qs-51 quick shoe. My question for anyone that may have ran into this is that the quick shoe has a slot in the...
I'm John from central CA. Just recently started hunting deer and bear on public lands here in CA. Really hooked on the sport. Bought a Mathews Halon 6 last week for my first bow. Can't wait to extend the season. Heading to Montana in a few weeks for spring bear.
This site is a great...
