I called in a little 4 by 5 raghorn back in the mission mountains got him to 12 yards and put an arrow through both lungs but that was back on the 16th. I had 3 Bulls going that morning
Keep looking. There are plenty of elk all along the border. It may be the next ridge over or a completely different drainage. Wolves and bears definitely affect the elk but they are still around
I would take a look at the pintler wilderness. But good luck getting away from the wolves. They have spread to almost every part of Montana. But that's not to say you won't still find plenty of elk in those areas. I hunt those areas praying for a chance at a wolf. I even had wolves howling...
There are bears everywhere this time of year. I live in the flathead valley and spend at least 3 days a week in the mountains around here. Best bet on finding bears is getting off the computer and put boots on the ground. It's as simple as that
There are bears almost everywhere. I usually have my best luck going in a ways on the mountain bike but lots of guys find them right from the truck. South fork is good as is the north fork. I prefer the swan valley but that's just because I have property down there. Just be patient and spend...
Once you get up by Clearwater junction there are lots of places to camp along the Blackfoot river. Beautiful country and lots of elk due to the wildlife refuge being right there
Still quite a bit of snow everywhere but it's supposed to be warm and sunny for a while now so that should help. Bears are out and about check down low
I was down just south of condon yesterday. I got eyes on a good boar for just a second bit didn't have time to capitalize. East side of the highway is melted out pretty good. I got my shipping notice on Friday for the reckoning so with any luck at all I should have it by Tuesday.
Quick update on the swan valley. I was out this week still lots of snow up high but the bears are out. Most guys are finding them in the creek and river bottoms. Im waiting til my new reckoning shows up to get serious anout it. Best of luck to everyone
