Bergers work for me. I have only killed half a dozen animals with the Berger Hybrid Hunting bullets (whitetail and mule deer--6.5cr & 30-06)
BUT None took a single step after the shot. DRT. All shots were broadside; shoulder/high shoulder or double lung.
the consensus is pretty good. He IS a 10pt which in my experience is always at least 125+. But he is narrow. Also, the average deer's ear is 6 1/2" long, and his G2s aren't much longer than that. So with 5-7" tines, I would say 130-135. Where I live, I might shoot him with a bow, but not a...
Sounds like you are on the right track. I have a couple of other thoughts that I will preface by noting that I live in Oklahoma and also hunt AR, so we are in similar climes.
Something I learned from a good bit of mountaineering was to have an "action suit" (i think I stole that term from Mark...
This doesn't solve the outerwear issue, but I would add a down piece for stationary times (jacket or vest) You just can't beat down for insulation. The mountaineering brands (patgonia, montbell, marmot, arcteryx, etc) are fantastic; light, compressible, and you can find them on sale usually. Kuiu...
I am not big guy (5'7" 145) and some of the bino harnesses are pretty bulky and don't adjust enough to fit securely for me. In the pics the SG looks pretty sleek and the straps not too bulky. So...
how does it adjust and ride on non-XL sized people?
Try 300 grain Hornady XTP with black MMP sabots.
We shoot that combo from 3 different rifles and get 1-1.5" at 100yd; two with BH209, one with 777pellets
(might want XTP-MAG bullet for elk. They're just as accurate as regular XTP)
I try not to to dig my heels in about things; BUT PowerBelt bullets suck. We have had WAY better results with
Hornady XTP (would be interested to try Barnes but my rifle doesn't like them.
Either one, because what you should have on your chest and grab first is bear spray. Spray is way more effective at quickly deterring an encounter. If that doesn’t work, then shoot it. But if you shoot it first, the chances are slim that your shots will incapacitate the bear before it mauls you...
