I take 4 small pulleys and 100' of paracord. 1 pulley for my bear bag the rest for elk. Use stick for a handle (like a yoke) and walk down hill to pull up the meat.
Pretty easy.
Good info. I wish every company listed their materials so they could be compared and analyzed. From what can tell the closest tipi (in size) you guys have to the Plateau 5 is your 6 man tipi. Is that correct?
I'd love to buy your stuff as it appears to be a great product. I think many like...
I didn't throw shade on any company. I was asked if I read the Luxe reviews and I summarized what I got from them. I hear what you're saying regarding quality, but that doesn't make sense for the fabric. Maybe I just don't understand the fabric enough (which is very possible). From what I...
This is a really great thread with some awesome photos. If I could trouble everyone for one just one thing. Could you please post the make / model of your tipi for those of us who don't know all the makes and brands? It would be really helpful as I'm personally trying to research and choose a...
I've read most of the Luxe threads. This is what I got out of them.
There seem to be two categories of people who don't like them. 1) They can't fathom buying anything except the most expensive brands with the biggest prices. Budgets aren't a thing when it comes to gear like tents and sleep...
I hadn't, but they appear to be the smallest, lightest, and cheapest of the 3 with less features.

I'm suddenly really interested in this. I was just about to pull the trigger on a Luxe Octpeak, but I think I like the layout with the stove jack in the middle and more head height better with this.
Anyone able to compare these two options. They seem to be the closest on value (cost / quality).
Anyone know which retailers carry this? It doesn't look like Cabela's does. It's too late to order it online since we're leaving Thursday. Ideally, I'd grab it on the way up so I could practice on the drive.
Elk will always be in thick stuff, but they're there for a reason. You can't see them until you step on them. I really got into elk last year in an old burn area. It was pock marked with little pockets of trees 20-30 yards wide and 30-100 yards long.
They would feed in the burn at night...
I see this often and would love someone to give more insight. The last thing I want to do is blow out bedded elk and waste lots of energy on elk ai could have hunted otherwise.
Winner.
Hell even better is to hunt near a city known for tourism so she stays at the hotel on your points and enjoys the spa / pool / antiquing/ whatever they do.
A 7 hour drive is an easy long weekend scouting trip or 3. I'd kill to be able to do that. I'm 17 hours from Colorado each way. Heck, drop the wife off at a spa in Santa Fe and pick her up on the way home. Win, win.
The tarp tent cloudburst is what I'm looking at. After getting stuck in a tent for extended time last year, I'm not sure if there is such a thing as enough room.
