There's a lot of talk on here about health & fitness, weight loss, and being a better you. Though, I haven't seen many posts about races or events they plan on doing. Not sure if this thread will be interesting to the masses but would love to hear if anyone is doing tris, half/whole marathons...
For those lucky enough to get a decent lottery number; has anyone received their Idaho non-res tags in the mail yet? On website is says to allow roughly 10-days but not sure if that pertains to tags from the Dec 1st sale?
Got a flat on a gravel road in the middle of nowhere on my Nittos. Plugged and fixed on the spot. It took two plugs to seal up the tire, but it's been holding air steady for 2 weeks now and have driven over 200+ miles on the plug.
I called Discount Tire, and they are looking at it today...
Anyone else get a Meateater catalog in the mail? It reminded me of the good ol JC Penny's catalog for those who are old enough!
Kinda hilarious, all of the "action photos" and models for the clothing/gear are the MeatEater crew. Got to give them some props for going old skool and bringing...
I work in a leading indicator industry (staffing) that is usually first to see a recession coming. Seems like many companies here in the Portland, OR market is slowing down on hiring and making cuts to staff. The IT sector seems to have been hit the hardest.
Are others around the country...
MeatEater has definitely become king of the mountain. Love or hate Steve Rinella, I am very impressed with his business savviness.

Being self-aware and critical of where I stand as I hunter, I can honestly say I'm not that great of a shot outside of 220+ yds. This is where I will be focusing a lot of my time over the next few months and would like to be confident out to roughly 500yds by fall.
I realize to get where I...
I am left-handed, so I'm particular on which handguns work best for me. I've got a couple of pistols with mag release buttons on my thumb side and a couple on my index finger side. I need to make a decision and reconfigure all my pistols to one side or the other for consistency and repetition...
I've carved out 5, possibly 6 days for my bear hunt this year and hope that's enough. Last year, we allotted 6 but only 2 of those days were decent weather. The other 4 it was either snowing or raining; which isn't good for bear hunting. Though, we're going later in the season this year...
Ok guys, I've hit a major crossroads here and hoping you could shed some light. Do I bring 1-ply TP, which is lighter and breaks down faster, or do I go with the extra weight, go 2-ply knowing it will also take up more space in the backpack?
In case it's not obvious (and if not, that's...
This caught my attention while reading a Meateater article (like them or not, they are useful in countrywide updates on hunting/fishing/firearms related issues).
Texas: The Kitchen Sink
Texas will consider a raft of gun-related bills this session in the wake of the mass murder in Uvalde last...
Just got a new pup and wondered if anyone has experience elk/deer scouting with their dog? I'd love to take her, but not sure if her scent/presence in the woods will do more harm than good for the area I plan on hunting next year? She will be trained not to chase ungulates.
Lightly used Crispi Nevada Legend boots size 10. Hardly broken in, about 75 miles over 2 seasons. No leaks and about 90%+ tread left.

I have an elk tag in a unit that I've spent some time in the past, but don't know it all too well. There's definitely elk in the unit and has some great country to hunt. Timbered draws with some open meadows and transition areas of high desert to dense trees.
The only thing is, the whole...
I am wondering if anyone has big problems with one foot and not the other? I have a pair of Crispi Nevada Legends and my right foot gets absolutely torn apart after 5+ days of hard hunting. 2 things happen. One, I get a blister on my heel, and the other my pinky toe rubs because I walk like a...
I'm curios on if there's anyone out there, that doesn't take a picture of their animal or fish?
Absolutely not knocking anyone for taking a picture of their kill. I do myself but only share with close family and friends. Some of my dinks I just take a quick pic, and file away on my phone...
Picture of the alleged poacher is on the bottom of the article.

Look at the title of this article then read it. I don't understand why they do not highlight how a response gun owner saved the day for many. It's basically brushed under the rug.

Saw this article and made me think: https://www.idahostatesman.com/outdoors/hunting/article258314798.html
Would you hunt an animal if you could keep the horns but not the meat (let's say because scientists use the meat for research)?
If it were my job or I lived in the unit and had extra...
