Any way you all found to get the rubber taste out of water bladder

I agree for day use. Much prefer canteens. Efferdent tablets work well in my Dromedary bag, and they leave a slight minty taste.

    Bozeman

My wife and I are so glad we escaped that place. Our only regret is selling our house in 2020 for 2.5x what we paid instead of holding out a couple more years for 4x. We still stop by for Pickle Barrel sandwiches, though!

How to catch an untrapable mouse.

Blue poison blocks. Sometimes the little devils die in the house, but they usually seem to escape outside and die in the driveway.

Do engineers have a sense of humor?

Same at our survey conferences. Architects are good at the visionary stuff. Very creative, and they can make a good looking building, but rarely much sense of the practical. Civil and structural engineers then have to try to make the architect's vision work within the meager budget the...

    No more Kuiu kids clothing?

I saw this outfit at the expo but didn't dig too deep as my kids wear adult sizes now.

Do engineers have a sense of humor?

Humor from my civil engineer college roommate: Anyone can design a bridge that will hold up. It takes an engineer to design one that will barely hold up.

    Bacon Grease

If you need more than your bacon habit makes, you may be able to find Bacon Up at the grocery store. Pre rendered and filtered bacon grease. Good stuff.

Vote on 2023 Best Youth Photo, sponsored by Western Edge Gear

After a brain freeze on my part yesterday (haggling with teenagers will do that to you), the tally is finally official. In accordance with the rule about 1/15/24 cutoff for accounts, WBundy had the most votes followed by Wickedwagens. We look forward to next year's hunts and more great pictures.

Yeah, I wish we were having another winter like last year...not really. 50+ next week. I feel sorry for the hard water fishermen, but not much. Critters are doing fine so far, but we're in trouble if we don't get spring and summer rains.

Yeah, it's hard to whittle them down to 10.

Vote on 2023 Best Youth Photo, sponsored by Western Edge Gear

Once again choosing the finalist was tough, and we had a great variety of critters, settings, and happy kids. I had to enlist the help of the accounting department, aka my wife, who is a much better judge of photography than I. Now it's your turn to vote on the best photo of youth hunters in...

    Southerners

Yeah, those are documentaries about the cold and snowy side of the state. I live on the west side where it's usually warmer and drier. It's not bad without the wind. It's all relative. Over 80 in the summer and some of us start getting cranky.

To answer OP's question, hell no. It's -22 right now, which is better than 2 nights ago at -33. We're looking forward to double digit highs above zero by Saturday, through.

    Pemmican: My way

Some notes from my pemmican experiments: - 2:1 or 3:1 meat to fruit by volume is about right. - I prefer ground meat over strip as it's easier to get powdered in the blender. - Use the blender when no one else is home. - I prefer rendered bacon fat over beef. I render my own, but you can get...
