    Triathlon/Marathon/Endurance Sports Thread

I used to run alot of ultras but kinda got burned out. I have found my groove again though and have a 25K coming up on 4/7. Plan do to an unsanctioned 50(ish)K in June as well. Hoping to work up to a 50M next summer.

    Freezer Failed

I have these on my two freezers. They hook to Wifi and alert me when the freezer gets above a certain temp. I also drilled a small hole in the side of the freezer to run the wire through so its not running across the door seal. I then filled the hole with silicone after. They have been great...

    Washington High Buck

Sort of off topic, but I know of a few Mule Deer that were collared around the Cle Elum area years ago...They would "winter" right behind the dump in Enumclaw. The whole PCT/BT/MD theory got a little fuzzy for me after that learning that!

Crispi Shimek GTX Review ***Updated 01/20/24***

I am similar to you, I wear a 13 and my foot is narrow/low volume. No issues with these being "too roomy".

Where does the dog go in your truck?

Stories like that make my heart hurt. My dog used to ride in the cab with me. Then I read/saw some studies on even small fender bender accidents and dogs getting seriously injured. I have too much time and money wrapped into my bird dogs. Investment in secured kennels was an easy decision.

Where does the dog go in your truck?

It really is. My GSP that rides in it is 67lbs. He technically fits in the Intermediate, however, its tight and with 3hr drives every Friday during hunting season plus a MT and SD drive, I opted for the Large. Pain in my ass, but worth it, IMO.

Final Rise - New era of upland vests

Here is my review on the vest after a bunch of time in the field so far this year. Love this thing! https://www.rokslide.com/final-rise-summit-xt-vest-system-review/

Crispi Shimek GTX Review ***Updated 01/20/24***

I am switching up my boot game a little this year and trying out the new Crispi Shimek GTX. I have been wearing the same boot since 2016 so trying something different should be interesting! So far I have done some training hikes on a small mountain close to my house and I am pleasantly...

How much for hunting club\lease dues?

I pay $1900 per year for a club that gets me on private to hunt wild roosters and some waterfowl. Worth every penny. I know it isn't deer hunting, but gives you an idea.

Final Rise - New era of upland vests

Yes, just trying to convey that the vest is very durable.

That would be a perfect scenario for the sidekick IMO.

Final Rise - New era of upland vests

The pockets do not seem to hang any lower than the original vest and those were no problem. I do not see these being an issue either. If I am understanding your second question correctly, no, the pouches do not come with loop shell holders. There is velcro patch inside the pouch, but it did not...

I do not have any experience with Wingworks so I cannot comment on any significant differences. I will check them out though.

Final Rise - New era of upland vests

The goods have arrived! I received the XT system as well as the sidekick. I switched the harness over to the sidekick, as I am training a new GSP and the Sidekick seems perfect for the couple tools needed. That was smooth, reminds me of swapping a bag on a Exo or Kifaru. I got an afternoon of...

What are the top factors determining where you live?

Family and work. Now that I have a 1 year old, I couldn't imagine not having family around to help out. Also, I work 1.2 miles from my office. I am in too good of a position to leave. Our roots are deeply planted here. Sad to see what Western Washington has become, but it would be difficult to...
