Spent 5 days DIY spike camped in the backcountry again this year. Went 3/3 while putting over 20k vertical on the trip. Doubled one day with the bears dropping 100' apart after each rolled 300 yards down the hill.
In Western WA, the bulls are starting to cruise looking for cows. Had a 5 point tearing up a tree and hanging out in bow range two different mornings (in two different areas two miles apart) while out archery hunting for blacktail.

I agree wholeheartedly that if a guy is strictly trophy hunting, he will have a real tough time, but if a guy wants to fill tags, it is very possible. We are always limited with the amount of time we have off to hunt it, so our focus is filling our tags and not trophy hunting.
