Get a competent Smith to thread it 1/2x28 then either cut you or buy an adapter. My shop has done this for a number of guys with thinner barrels and It works well.
Another option is a brake mounted suppressor with a brake in 1/2x28, either commercially available with a larger diameter hole...
If you reload and can handle the recoil, .300 Norma. If you prefer factory loads, .300 win mag.
Both have more than sufficient energy to handle elk within the ranges you are talking about.
Not sure if you picked optics yet, but this is a great option and dang good price:

Once you find a load the gun likes, you can have...
I take it off, but that more to do with a 26” barrel and 8” can. The gun alone isn’t fun in alders or swamps. Shorter barrels are a lot easier to manage but anything over 22” gets a little annoying trying to hike in.
Know your POI shift with and without the suppressor. There are a lot of good...
I wouldn’t trade my a400 for anything. Ducks, dove, turkeys or boat paddle, it works every time.
Kickoff system does a great job on recoil reduction, even with turkey loads.
Are you going in on Alaska Air or someone else? We ran into the same problem and found flights with Alaska air but there wasn’t much available.
For what it’s worth, I’m bringing a head net and breathable waders. Good excuse to get a pair of Simms.
I will be somewhere in 17. Hoping to double up with moose and grizzly after the spring hunt was canceled. Worst case it will be 15 days away in the woods and not in an office.
You can tighten down the 7800 but it is a huge bag. Between the two, I got the bigger one. Can’t say that I make good use of the extra size though. More bag means more room to stuff shit in that you don’t really need and won’t be real happy having to carry. If you can manage the “what if”s when...
When eForms first went live years ago I had a form 4 approved in 32 days. That can sits in the safe beside another one that took a week shy of a year.
My guess is yours was docketed for someone helping out the primary reviewer for your area. Is the approver on both forms the same? The times I...
If anyone is looking for a Moose hunt for this fall, PM me for details. To make a long story short, I had a deposit down for a September DIY Moose/Black Bear hunt out of Aniak, Alaska and will be unable to make it this year so the outfitter has a spot open. The area is best for 1 moose hunter...
I will echo those above and suggest the Thunderbeast. I picked up an ultra 9 in 6.5 two years ago and have been very happy with it. Great cans, lockup well and minimal, if any, POI shift. That being said, I have an older Gemtech Sandstorm that I am pretty fond of as well. Given the growth in the...
