    Getting From Anchorage to Tok

    My wife and I rented a van at the airport in Anchorage. It was more than big enough for the 2 of us, including antlers. I think it could be done with 4, but you would have to pack carefully. We spoke with a group of 4 who went the Uhaul route and they said they wouldn't do it again.

    What gear was a pleasant surprise?

    First Lite merino shirts and SKRE merino bottom base layers. Wore the same pair for 10 days in the Alaska bush and absolutely no stink. Also First Lite Corrugate pants. I was surprised how much easier it was to hike the mountains with pants that stretch instead of bind.
