    Southeast Montana question

I just left Broadus, MT with an unpunched tag. I would stay near Ashland. Worked hard to find only forkies and a couple small 4 points. As it got closer to the weekend, there were trucks on every public land access within 30 miles of Broadus just about.

    Florida Sambar

And the tides/wind driven wave combo there can be epic on small boats. Boats can get swamped if you don’t anchor properly as in two bow, one stern far out. Hiring transport is easier.

    Florida Sambar

When I went, I just called around to local tackle shops for fishing guide phone numbers. They expect the calls and work around the time of the hunt. It is pricey for what it is but cheaper than trailering 500 miles.

I have been before. Looking for an update post hurricane. The panhandle suffered severe damage, curious how the barrier island was affected and if the ponds have changed, vegetation die-offs etc. Thanks to anyone who may have some insight to share

Shooting invasive Iguanas with a pellet gun? Florida!

I’m sure you could, the noose works better (50 lb mono) because they can have some weight to them. But the gigs I have are flimsy frog gigs.

Shooting invasive Iguanas with a pellet gun? Florida!

Not a lot of them on public lands in South Florida. Maybe down in Miami at Rocky Glades SGA but it has to be during general gun season. Unfortunately you can’t just walk the levees off the highway and shoot them. That would be a quick way for a visit from the Sheriff’s office. We shoot em off...

    V3 AutoTrickler

I have one, not much to compare it to besides a beam scale, but it is my favorite piece of reloading equipment. Very precise and the tech is cool. Can be finicky to set up to get the 0.02 every time but once you get it right it stays there until you change powders. The scale has to warm up for...

New Poster, First Timer, Just looking for some perspective

I had my first trip to Wyoming hunting antelope this year. The weather was variable from cool to snow. When it snowed, I sat in the truck because you couldn’t see anything anyway. I stayed in a local motel and cooked groceries from Casper in the room. Listen to the guy who said rifle, bullets...

Montana region 7 DIY public land [first thread]

Thanks for the response. I would like to get in the mountains too but the flatland is much more approachable in a rental truck and for my Dad. Did the block management areas seem to get as much attention?

Montana region 7 DIY public land [first thread]

What’s your opinion on Region 7 for a hunt? Deciding between Montana and CO for me and my Dad next year. I would appreciate any opinion you could provide on the hunting. Thanks and nice buck! Getting after any stripers yet?

    Florida Sambar

If I remember correctly, the regulations do not allow you to use a boat to move from hunting spot to spot but I may be incorrect. Plus, the continual anchoring and concerns over tide would not be enjoyable.

I used my bike extensively and would have not covered near as much ground without it. I just brought a beater mountain bike. If you can fashion a way to carry your stand on a pannier rack, that would work best. I wore mine on my back but upgraded the straps on my summit.

    Florida Sambar

I did this hunt in 2015, was a lot of fun. I saw a stag, not where they are usually expected, but flubbed it. That still haunts me. Not much to add besides what has been said already. Call the local bait shops and ask for guide recommendations to ferry you over. I scouted the finger roads over...
