    Inexpensive Dyneema stuff sacks

Its cheapest to make your own, ripstop by the roll has a youtube video showing how to make one for guidance, and they even sell a kit to make one if you don't want to full commit and buy large quantities of fabric, components, etc. Here the video...

    DIY Ultra Light Pack Setup

Did you load up the frame and rely on the pack to distribute a load ever? If so, how much weight and how many straps were distributing? That's really good to hear and I might have to give it a try. I guess, now that I think about it, low puncture strength would have nothing to do with seam creep...

    DIY Ultra Light Pack Setup

I actually pulled from the HMG porter a decent amount in designing this bag. I am definitely going to try to do another bag and get my weight down more. I am trying to ignore cuben fiber because of its low penetration strength, but its hard considering its half the weight of robic 210d. Also...

    DIY Ultra Light Pack Setup

Definitely, that’s kind of what my mentality was. Also cost was some of the motivation for this bag as well. I think I’m about $20-30 into the materials for this bag.

    DIY Ultra Light Pack Setup

No issues so far not having the bag attached to the top of the frame. The 8 straps seem to provide more than enough compression with or without stuff in between the frame. I am still trying to figure out if its something that I want to add or not. Weight is kinda the factor with that. I don't...

    DIY Ultra Light Pack Setup

I don't have a background in sewing, but I used to work at Feathered Friends so I have been around textile manufacturing before and kinda knew about the process. But I worked cutting designs out of the fabric and not sewing. I got around to doing some initial load tests with the pack. I ramped...

Thanks! I appreciate it. This was my first backpack actually and didn't take as much skill as it took planning really.

    DIY Ultra Light Pack Setup

So I was trying to find a new light weight pack option for this year, and I was having a very hard time finding exactly what I wanted. Instead of spending several hundred dollars for something that wasn't perfect, I just decided to make it myself. So, my goal was to create a hunting pack that...

Seek Outside bag on Kifaru UL Frame

Anyone put a seek outside bag on a Kifaru frame? Looks like it would be extremely straight forward from SO’s bag swap video but curious if anyone can confirm before I spend the money. Thanks in advance!

    Base Pack Weights?

Backpacking base weight is 10 lbs, hunting base weight is 26 lbs. Both obviously for over night trips. For everyone asking, base weight refers to everything that is not consumable. For example, water, food, and fuel are normally not counted in base weight. Rifle, tent, etc is counted.

Rehydrate wipes, or spray this on TP?

Rehydrate wet wipes for sure. Or eat plenty of fiber on your trip and put a cork in it!

    Crispi Vs Scheen vs ???

I wouldn’t buy a boot before trying it on and knowing how it fits first. Too many differences in people’s feet can cause issues when finding a new boot. Try to go to any of their events coming up and try before you buy.

Does anyone hike with their hunting packs?

I don’t know what kind of backpacking you do, but when I’m not hunting I like to be ultra light. My backpacking bag weighs 18oz, my Kifaru weighs approximately 5 lbs (80 oz). My backpacking bag is unquestionably more comfortable at the weights used for normal backpacking. The hunting backpacks...

Anyone running a Kifaru pack on a non-Kifaru frame?

Get the frame, buy a new belt when you lose weight. No point buying one of their most popular bags right away. They aren’t going to discontinue it any time soon

New pack hint on the Exo site.

Please tell me you are going to have a fully adjustable belt?? As in different adjusters for upper and lower halves of the hip belt. This really helps dial in the fit perfectly!
