This is probably a really stupid response, but does your reticle have sub tensions? If you haven’t tried it already, hold your elevation instead of dialing it and see if you’re impacting close. That should tell you right there if you have a turret tracking issue.

Glad no one was hurt OP. Wild deal for sure. Lesson here is definitely to mind the shooting lanes! Was on a goose hunt with shoulder to shoulder layout blinds a few weeks ago and I could see something like this happening if everyone doesn’t stay in their lane.

In general, my experiences are the same as yours. That is why I never rely on the chrono as gospel. It's a great way for me to find a ballpark starting point, but at distance, I let the target tell me what's going on and I'll adjust my dope...
Yeah I kinda like my Kifaru lid for quick access stuff. I keep my headlamp, jet boil, food for the day, gloves, beanie, etc. The small kinds of stuff that can be difficult to locate in main bag if not in some kind of organizer pouch or something.
