North Dakota or South Dakota Archery?

ND badlands are a very fun place to hunt. Large tracks of very broken public land. Typical bucks seen are 150-160 on the higher end. 170-180s are definitely a possibility. Lots of road hunters! If you went in mid September, bring the shotgun and chase some sharptail grouse.

    GoHunt Mule Deer Podcast

This podcast was pure gold. It was entertaining and very informative. I would have to put it at the top of my all time favorite.

    Wyoming nonresident elk draw thread!

Brother and I for .5 average on points. Can’t wait to get my general tag! 😂 Can’t get drawn if you don’t apply. Worth noting that I cashed in my 11 points for a LE tag two years ago so I suppose I can wait a little.

Wyoming elk unit 84 and 86

Mallard, I'm curious to know how your hunt went last fall? I've been looking at units 86 and 87 a lot for a possible hunt this fall assuming we draw. Any info would be great. PM if needed. Thanks in advance.

    Packing with llamas

I’ve been drumming over the idea of getting started with llamas. One question I have considering that I live in ND is do they need to be altitude conditioned? I’m sure they would for the most part but wondering if anyone knows anything about that.

What shooting position were you in for your last shot at an elk?

I was kneeling on the last one. Didn’t need a whole lot of skill since I had a 7mag and he was 33 yds away.

Wow...I drew a North Dakota Elk Tag!

Awesome job! You did better than me when I had that tag in 2005. Sadly I ate tag soup from hunting in August when it’s 95 degrees down there. I did see some elk but all in the park boundary. Big bulls like 350-400”. I’m now relying on raffles for the tag.

Wow...I drew a North Dakota Elk Tag!

I’ll be down there in early September chasing deer and do run into elk on a regular basis. If I see anything I’ll keep you in mind.

Wow...I drew a North Dakota Elk Tag!

I’d look in that Mohall area. 50” bulls can and are usually found every year. Also, scouting early can be tough. For how tall moose are, they can still stand in a cattail slough and not be seen pretty easy. Once the beans and corn start coming off will you really start to see moose. Good luck.

Wow...I drew a North Dakota Elk Tag!

All I have to say is don't rush your hunt. Try to be as picky as possible within reason. Don't get discouraged after the first couple of weeks. Some of the best hunting is in the later part of the season once all of the deer hunters have been running around and that's when you get some reports...

    A few winter range bucks

How is the winter range looking? Overall, how are the deer looking? The next 6 weeks or so is crucial!

    disappointing hunt in G

I’ve got enough points to draw next year and plan to do so. Region G is what it is and not what it historically was at the moment and may never get back to that point. I’m going for the experience and possibly harvesting a representative +170” type deer buck. I went scouting last year to...

    Winter Range 2020-2021

Hey guys, sorry if it’s posted someplace else but was wondering what the status of the winter range in western Wyoming is as of now. It’s early but I am curious. You could say I’m waiting on the deer dray for 2021.

    Region G Wyoming

I went out there this last August scouting, but with a different mindset. We didn't go looking for deer. We went looking at the terrain and how to move around in it. We found deer but had a bit of a gut check walking in. Get into shape. When you think you are in shape, do more. I'm from ND, lost...

    North Dakota - Badlands

Thank you. It was a cool 27 degree November day with a few little snow flurries. Hunted for 8 days and this was on the last. Wasn’t one of the big deer I had seen in August while scouting but was very pleased with him.

    Foot Care

Was wondering what items to pack for that “Just in case” situation for blisters and hot spots. I’ve never really had any issues but don’t want to be without when/if I do need something. Thoughts.
