I’ve got both the Yamaha 550 grizzly and Honda foreman 400. I loan the Honda out and ride the Grizzly mostly because the ride is much more comfortable on the Grizzly. The Grizzly is louder and faster. I’ve repaired the Electronic shifting twice on the Honda.
Black Canyon of the Gunnison is within 30 minutes and has several knuckle dragging training hikes into the canyon. Try Gunnison Point route from the visitors center, it’s a butt kicker.
I cannot imagine trying to wait out a long rainstorm in a bivy... I have twice, I’m graduating to a Durston Xmid 2. Same weight as my tarp and bivy and much nicer for those rainy periods.

The proposed National Monument is not going to be in unit 61, I hope it doesn’t pass though. It’s going to be along the Dolores River down to utah in unit 40 and 60 If it passes.
I always like the guys who will say “I hear” is there but don’t really know anything. Palisade is the best town in the Grand Valley (Grand Junction is in The Grand Valley) followed by Fruita. Palisade even has a paid firefighter gig but GJ pays better. Feel free to PM me
I’ve ridden a mtn bike over it, an atv, various motorcycles, a 2 wheel drive 1978 Ford pickup, a VW Beetle, and most recently a Toyota 4Runner. It’s not as rough as it was in the 70’s and 80’s.
