I don't live in CO but I do hunt there occasionally. I sent in some money to the CRWM folks to help fight this. I absolutely hate ballot box biology and this kind of attack on hunting.
I lived in CA for a long time. Only lion I have ever shot was on a depredation permit because it was...
I'm sitting out WY this year, so it will probably be way less than I currently have. Lol! And next year it will jump up back up beyond my point level. Be just my kind of luck.
I often have one in the truck, but rarely carry on my person. With how much crazier things are getting where I now live, I should start carrying more often. I used to live in a small mountain town where I wasn't too concerned. But now, in a much larger place, there seems to be several...
It is all an ebb and flow for me. The last few years I have had fewer high country archery elk trips with my core group of hunting buddies and more family oriented trips with my dad, brother and wife. I want to get back out on a good september archery hunt with the boys this coming year...
On a 16 day float hunt a decade ago, we used rubber soled wading shoes. The same standard lightweight wading shoes I use for fishing. We didn't have any issued with them, especially since we weren't hiking too far off the river anyway. Usually less than a half mile from the river, mainly to...
I have a pair of Swaro El Range 10x42 and love them. Last weekend I had the opportunity to look through some of the other EL range binos. The 8x32's were great! I will be getting my dad a pair here soon. You will not be disappointed with them.
Congrats. Keep up the good work. I am now almost 6 years in and wouldn't change it for the world. I needed the change because I couldn't even make it halfway through Dry January without falling off the wagon in a bad way.
I've been very pleased with the sheep meat from my DBHS. Some of the cuts are a little chewy, but the flavor is excellent! Cooked up some backstrap with sautéed onions and mushrooms last week. Everyone agreed it was excellent.
I was surprised after my sheep hunt how thin skinned sheep are. Any rifle/bullet combo capable of taking down an antelope or deer would suffice. My 300WM was definitely overkill.
Not necessarily easy, but doable. I did it on an archery hunt a number of years ago. In 2022, I managed to get a deer, but not a bull on the combo. If you can afford it, I say go for it.
I used a Kifaru 8-man tipi for over 10 years. Loved that tent! But the biggest issue with it is finding a flat area large enough to set it up, especially if you packing in off the beaten path. It can take some creative campsite selection to find a spot that all of you can sleep on a flat area...
I have both. Bought the SxS two years ago when my daughter was born. Now I don't use the quad anymore. We love going out as a family in the SxS and it's a much smoother ride than any other vehicle I've owned on rough dirt roads and trails. Saves a lot of wear and tear on my truck.
I was working in AK on 9/11. It was almost a week before any planes were allowed to fly in and pick up clients. And the weather was clear and sunny for the most part. Lots of pretty crazy stories of groups wondering what happened and if they were forgotten. Not everyone had satellite phones...
Two things - First is the glassing pad. I use a half a thermarest z-rest. Folds up small and it is a luxury for long glassing sessions. Sencond - the cord/stake combo for helping guy out legs/quarters while breaking down an elk by myself.
