I literally tried to book my flight a year out as I was flying out for my float trip last year. I was told, sorry, and I could get on the waiting list because the guides had priority this coming season due to them being pushed into our area because of the feds.
If Alaskans aren’t smart enough...
Don’t leave your tent without being prepared to sleep on the mountain side. I “slept” in a sheep bed the night before the opener in order to be in position to kill a ram I had put to bed. By 5:30 in the morning on the opener I was notching my tag.
The only thing that was off was the non resident license cost. I orginally posted the non resident alien license cost and have since edited it. What else is not accurate? Bush flights aren't cheap, and neither are flights to Alaska. All of the non resident tags doubled in cost in 2017.
I was checking out the calculator on Berger's website, and it was say that the 215's prefer a 1:9 twist rate. Any of you guys had any issues using a 1:10 twist rate?
A lot of the non resident draw permits for sheep in Alaska require a guide agreement before even putting in for the tag. This basically means that if you draw the tag, you already have a guide lined up to take you on the hunt. Hopefully you have a wad of cash saved up if this happens. Especially...
Alaska residents get a general harvest tag for sheep with their license. Granted, not all areas are general harvest, and as you would expect, any general harvest area close to the road system sees a lot of pressure.
I just ordered some 215's and need to pick up some 210's to work up some loads for my 300 win mag for the upcoming season. Are any of you guys launching these out of your rifles? The 215's are listed as a "target" bullet, but they're a hollow point and there are a bunch of guys in the West...
I was looking at the dimensions of the Redcliff. I think it would make a great moose camp tent. Not so sure I would want to pack it too far from the boat.
Here is some helpful information. Also, if you have an idea of where you want to hunt that requires a draw permit, your best bet is to put all six of your draw permits into that area. You can see what the draw rate success is for an area by searching the hunt you want to apply for.
