7saum, 4831sc powder, 175 eldx, Norma brass, and wlrm primer. 1/2 moa out to a mile, with my tikka action, 26” proof barrel, .25” free bore, and McMillan stock. 757 yards this February with a 20 mph crosswind. One shot and dropped.
I get to take my 9 year old twin kids out hunting for their first time this year. I’m going to be sitting over a feeder out of a blind to simplify things for them. I’m hoping it will provide a better teaching condition for all of us. I’ve never hunted out of a blind, and don’t have any...
I landed on the same conclusion. I just picked up a cz 457 mtr. I’m topping it with an area 419 30 moa rail, seekins rings, and a Burris xtr ii 5-25 mil scope. Also running an atlas bipod, atlas bipod rail, yodave trigger spring, and area 419 bolt knob. It’s not all put together yet, as I just...
Even with the same exact bullet, you can get varying measurements if the bullets are from different lots. For example: I was reloading 250 7 saum rounds this weekend. I load these at .025” off the lands. My comparator tool gives me a base to ogive measurement of 2.4400”. After the first 100...
I heard they’re going to conduct the draw on a day that ends in day. If anyone wants to know the exact time, wait until your credit card is hit, then run to the nearest clock and check the time. 👍👍
Looking for a Bell and Carlson stock, or HS Precision stock for a Howa Short Action 1500. Not too picky about color. Just looking for a quality stock for this rifle. It was my first centerfire rifle, and I killed my first big game animal with it. I’m trying to get it in good shape for my kids...
I’m running a conservative load in my saum. I’m using h4831sc, with the 175 eldx. Running at 2950 FPS. I have a 26” barrel. I’m sure I could get it well over 3000.
I say go for it. I have a 7 saum and love it. That would be my recommendation, but to each their own. Everything the saum can do, the wsm can do. Awesome long range elk round if you ask me. I'm having great luck with the 175 eldx. Very easy to find a load for.
You can get a better rifle if you put the parts together yourself. Order a McMillan stock of your choosing (or find one in the classifieds). Find a new or used tikka rifle on the cheap (or an action if possible). Order a barrel of your choosing (you can find blanks left and right in the...
