I have 2 6.5 PRCs, but want to turn one of them into a 25 PRC, so it seems I'll either have to keep bringing the 6.5 PRC to Mexico (which has worked great) or go the 25 Creedmoor route, because I am not interested in a 25 SST or any of the other headstamped options, or just keep waiting for 25...
Yes, they check ammo headstamp against barrel engraving against the Rifle Permit information, which includes make, model, cartridge and serial number on the rifle. I don't know what they would do if there was no caliber engraving on the rifle barrel. I do know that our outfitter had to pay a...
First, I am aware that head stamped 25 CM and 25 SST brass can be obtained. My problem is that I would prefer to build a 25 PRC or 25-284 and that I need cartridge head stamped brass so I can take the rifle into and hunt in Mexico.
Does anyone know if there are plans from Hornady to create a...
Equally important to tracking, to me, is retaining zero. The Rifle Scope Field Evaluations posted above will steer you in the right direction.
Cheat sheet--look at Night Force, SWFA, Trijicon, the new Maven scope, some Schmidt and Benders, and some Meoptas.
The problem with the Vortex scopes is tracking, returning to zero and maintaining zero. For $1,899, you can buy an SFP Nightforce or SFP Trijicon Credo that will have none of those problems. You could almost buy one of each for $1,899.
You will definitely find people who will report good...
For those of you ordering the rokstock, what color or color combinations are you going for? Anyone buying the plain version and planning to paint it yourself?
I know they look unconventional, but don't knock them until you've tried them. Warm and dry in cold weather, but not a good choice for warm weather:

Alpaca socks are very good too.
Very few of the SWFA scopes are illuminated, and roksliders use them a lot.
Most of my ffp scopes are not illluminated, and I've never had it be a problem.
The Kinco mittens are solid when coated with snow seal and even better when you wear a merino liner in them.
No opinion on the original ones you mentioned as I've never needed anything more than the Kincos...
When I was filling out my paperwork on Friday with the FFL, we both agreed that it should be easier to buy a suppressor, and thereby protect one's hearing, than it is to buy a gun. Not saying that guns should be harder to purchase, but suppressors shouldn't be so hard.
I am a bit flabbergasted and feel like it's some kind of a setup, but I submitted my electronic paperwork on Friday, February 16th and received approval to pick up my can today, Wednesday, February 21st. Monday was a holiday of course, so it took 2 whole business days.
My FFL asked if I know...
The Meopta Optika6 3-18x50 actually did quite well in a Rokslide/Form test:

The Swaros do not have a good reputation for holding zero, tracking etc.
If you intend to have the scope hold zero, adjust correctly, and dial for long range, I wouldn't get either one. I'd look at this Maven:

A Trijicon Tenmile or Credo; or a Nightforce.
This will give you a small glimpse of the deer's mass, but pics don't do the mass justice. Gross score was 211 or 213, as I recall. Brother never had it B&C scored, because he doesn't care. Don't have any other pics that don't give too much away.
