Little confused why you threw AO in the mix. You can’t hunt the x zones with an AO tag. That being said go high. I haven’t checked but that’s an early tag I believe and during the rifle hunt we were hunting deer above 11k. Hope you’re in shape

Hike on a trail and jump off areas you e-scouted that look promising. My experience is the further you go the more likely you’ll see deer. Go where no one wants to an you’ll find them

That’s rather bold of you to ask for spots. What I will say is there’s lots of deer everywhere. Now to find a stud you better get to hiking. In 2 days helping my buddy we saw 13 legal bucks. If you’re happy with a fork, should take you an hr. But since that’s like 7 points now I’d be selective...

SoCal is brutal. Hunt your local stuff and learn how to find game. Then go hunt out of state bc the deer numbers are low and hunter numbers are high. You can find success but it’s tough. D14 is now “premium” with a success rate of 15%. My opinion that is far from premium. I know it’s premium...
I’d also like to shoot a 180” minimum. Preferably within a stones throw from the road thanks
I’m messing around. Get gohunt

Last year I helped a buddy with his tag and we hunted at almost 11k ft. Saw a bachelor group of about 10 bucks with a couple studs. Day before opening day. Could relocate that group opening morning. Buddy went back 2 weeks later (11k ft) and killed a nice 4x3. They’ll stick around and hide in...
I typically pack in to get away from roads and everyone else. I did an elk hunt years back as my first backpacking trip and it was eye opening. Didn’t get one but man I learned a lot. If I can see a road that’s not fun. Guess I love misery

Damn I’ve always wonder if I hunted the way I do out of state how I’d do. Last 3 years I got serious about deer hunting and been successful each year. Granted nothing big but I only get to hunt 2-5 days max. 2 kids under 2 makes it tough when we both work. I have seen plenty of solid bucks just...
What doesn’t make sense is the only possible area they could’ve gone was to another canyon that gets absolutely hammered bc you can drive right up to it. We chose this spot bc you couldn’t road hunt.
We did hear a couple coyotes later in the day Friday. We set back up Friday to scout again for...
Idk what kind of pines they are but they are in small clusters only 5-6 feet high and spaced out pretty good. The canyon behind the peak is a cliff. Maybe they can climb it but seemed impossible even for deer. My buddy passed on forks bc that group of 9 bucks was outstanding. I just couldn’t...
Backcountry Hunt 11k feet. Very little cover and only a small alpine lake within 1.5 miles of where the pic was taken.
Found these deer day before the opener which was awesome. My buddy and me put a plan in place since they seemed to still be in summer mode. Some bucks not pictured still in...
