    BIPODS- A busy market now!

I’ve used a variety of bipods - I’ve been hunting with a bipod on a rifle for 20 years now. Currently, I’m running just a Magpul bipod with spike feet and the pan locked out. I’ve found I don’t need all the different angle options for legs. I just need cant in a bipod. The Magpul is light...

    Tract scope opinions

I have the Tract PRS scope on a 6.5 PRC and had it mounted on a 300 PRC. Tracking has been spot on and reliable. I have hunted with it extensively and have never had to re-zero. My one complaint about the scope is that the parallax is very sensitive in comparison to my NX8, which seems to have...

Is Rokslide a Cult? Is Fishnet Form the RokLeader?

I find Rokslide has a good mix of posters that provide experiences, facts, and share objective tests. That’s not cultish at all to me. Talking about LRO - if Rokslide has a 223 cult, LRO has a 300 cult and I have said as much there but the editors will never let any opinion that disputes or...

.223 for bear, deer, elk and moose.

The Hornady BTHP and SMK act very differently. I’ve killed a few animals with the SMK and won’t use them anymore as they are inconsistent when it comes to expansion. The Hornady BTHP on the other hand has performed more like a Berger bullet, but seems to be a little tougher with a narrower cone...

.223 for bear, deer, elk and moose.

The longest kill we have with the Hornady 75gr was at 340 yards on a big bodied buck. The shot was quartering away with a complete pass through and wrecked insides. The deer ran 20 yard and tipped over. I do a lot of hunting in open country and shoot game at long range every year. I shoot a...

.223 for bear, deer, elk and moose.

Hornady Factory Ammo 75gr BTHP 5.56 superformance. I’m getting 2900 fps out of an 18” barrel AR. Last year we killed a ewe, a deer and two antelope with the set up. We kill around 3 or 4 animals a year with the 223. I’ve used a number of different bullets from 55gr on up to 75gr. The 75gr...

Downside of fast twist 243 over 6cm?

If you want to shoot factory ammo you will not find modern high bc bullets designed to shoot in a 1/8 twist loaded for the 243 outside of some boutique loaders. Barrel life in the 243 is said to be shorter than the 6mm creedmoor due to the shoulder angle. I’m not sure of the validity of this...

XLR magnesium Chassis vs. Stockys M50

I had a 3.0. I sold it and upgraded to the 4.0 for the built in rail. I used a saddle mount with the 3.0 which wasn’t as steady and a lot slower. The built in rail is very fast to use and rock solid.

XLR magnesium Chassis vs. Stockys M50

I have 2 rifles set up in XLR magnesium chassis. A 6.5 and 300 prc. Recoil to me isn’t any different than with a stocked rifle. I like the chassis as I have a folding stock for fitting in a pack and the Arca rail for quickly attaching the rifle to a tripod. Both are features I use regularly. Of...

Balancing FOV/what power to shoot on game

I shoot a lot at distance. My favorite scopes have a zoom of at least 20x on the high end for sighting in and really making sure I’m getting a good zero and confirming accuracy. The rifles I shoot are accurate enough that the added zoom for los development/sight in is helpful. When hunting I...

Who here shoots a 6mm Creedmoor

I had a 6mm creed that was used on elk without issue as well as antelope. Ice also sued a 243 on deer, elk, and antelope without issue. I think they are great rounds.

    FORMADILIOUS.........I'm calling you OUT!!

An AR can be just as accurate or nearly so as a Tikka with the right components. It’s easy to swap out barrels at home with simple tools to get the right length and contour you want. You can set one up to a weight of your choosing and with variable stock lengths for different sized shooters. An...

    FORMADILIOUS.........I'm calling you OUT!!

For a scope, look at a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40. They are cheap and in my experience rock solid reliable. They are not a dialing scope, but if your shooting deer with a 223 you probably are not shooting much past 300 yards, so it’s not needed.
