I’m not sure imitation is the right word. Allterra already has a mold for their design. Seems like maybe they are just a bit ahead of the game, IDK? It will be interesting to see which stock better. Seriously doubt Allterra can do theirs for $545 msrp but dang if we aren’t currently living in...

    Okay, friggin’ Tikkas….

Obviously the 6.5 and .22 Creedmoor are easy, it’s the switch barrel 7PRC/ 6.5 PRC that has me wondering what’s available that would work best.

    Okay, friggin’ Tikkas….

Nobody cares to talk factory mags or aftermarket mags and bottom metal along with OAL dimensions? What would you all consider to be the optimal setup for the cartridges mentioned?

    Okay, friggin’ Tikkas….

Ya, I’ll reload… Seems the only company that supports their cartridges these day’s is Hornady and they always gain popularity accordingly. The aftermarket seems to follow suit with great components and in a pinch factory loads for cartridges supported by them are often the only things you can...

    Okay, friggin’ Tikkas….

I’ve built alot of different custom and semi-custom rifles over the years. Mostly with Rem 700 actions but also several with Rem 700 style custom actions sharing the same footprint. While I’ve been happy with most of those builds I’m to that age where I want to consolidate rifles and...

Agreed.. What makes the 7PRC special again?

7 PRC Velocities / FACTORY Ammo

This cartridge is no different than any other cartridge , it does not “maintain velocity”. It simply looses velocities in shorter barrels just like everything else based on powder burn rates used and expansion ratios.

You've carried a suppressed rifle far and wide

Not trying to be the “pressure police”, but Hodgdon has published and pressure tested data for .22 Creedmoor. I’d encourage all .22 Creedmoor owners to look at it!

    Hornady A tip 166gr .284 load data?

Your 1-9” will run 180’s if it’s actually a “true” 1-9.. You will likely lose a bit of B.C. But trued up field data will tell you if there is an advantage to the 180’s over the 160 class VLD’s or not. Get out and shoot!

    .308 Win. Barnes 130 TTSX

Yep, pretty common for Barnes bullets to shed petals at high impact velocities.

The Most Overlooked Part of a Rifle Build

IMO, the #1 most overlooked part of a rifle build is setting up proper throat lengths! It’s pretty simple, if you have tight mag constraints, pick the longest/highest B.C. bullet that your barrel twist rate can handle, then seat that bullet in a dummy round with an OAL .050” shorter than mag...

    .308 Win. Barnes 130 TTSX

The 130’s will be absolutely fine! Don’t listen to any nonsense about those bullets not opening at close range or lack of pass thru. That bullet from a .308 will do both on the biggest black bear to walk this earth.. One consideration though, is that high speed impacts with Barnes at close...

7 Saum neck diameter, ordering a reamer

.185" free bore must mean you are running a SA with a Wyatts box or detach mag with 2.995" internals? As for the neck diameter, buy enough brass to last the barrel or several barrels since you'll own the reamer, and get to measuring.... Allow .002" minimum neck clearance on your reamer if it's...

    Hard to beat the 7mm-08ai?

Gotcha! The 7mm08 AI looks way cool, is easy on the shoulder, and just like all the AI's, a bit more friendly at the reloading bench as it relates to case growth and trimming. That and the +50fps are the only advantages I can think of really... A 7mm Creedmoore would likely be the ultimate SA...
