    Has your dog been injured?

Had one Springer cut her pad on broken glass in the field, and later blow out a front shoulder that needed surgery. Had a Boxer go blind in one eye from a foxtail. Otherwise it looks like I have been lucky overall compared to the bulk of these responses.

How to KILL Disable a Primer

Knock out the primers with a removal tool. Fill the hole in the base of the shell with epoxy or hot glue. Allow to dry. Paint over the filler with a dab of brass colored paint, available at most hardware stores and at hobby shops. No worries that way about old primer corrosion or still having...

    Kid shotgun recommendations

I would get him an H&R single shot, break action 20 ga. You have to manually cock it to fire. My father bought me one for my 10th birthday. I had to carry a snap cap in the chamber on our first few hunts and my Dad had me go thru the motions when we jumped pheasant, as in "cock, aim, fire,"...

    Desperately need help (corn tortillas)

My mexican wife of 25+ years makes her own tortillas both corn and flour. However, she also occasionally will buy store bought with the Don Pancho brand found here in Montana. In small packs of 8 tortillas they seem to do well being reheated regardless of their style, flour, corn, or combo. See...

Has anyone trained a non hunting dog to do some hunting related things.?

Back in the late 80s my friends and I were pheasant hunting beet fields east of Arbuckle CA, and came across a guy using a black lab and a dachshund to hunt. We hunted with him for a while, with the lab busting around the waist high beets, and the weiner dog running completely out of sight...
