For the second half of “spot and stalk”, I’m a little pickier on the pack, as I’ve never been one to drop a pack, if by myself. Color, quietness, profile/bulk, would be three choosing factors.
Sounds like some of these long distance shooters promoting high magnification scopes, need to invest in a better caller, instead of a scope, if they are calling to start with.
12’s in the West, along with a tripod depending on hunt; 8’s for deer stands in the South. Got rid of spotter. Only time I ever used, (and saw real need for) a spotter, was for sheep hunting.

Not sure which connection the OP didn’t like, as there is a little more bulk in the classic gunsmith, compared to the Universal. Hard to imagine less bulk, less weight, and quicker connect/disconnect, yet still have the sling connection, on the Spartan Universal connector. Sure like it on my Tikka

How many months/pics are those good for? Some people have cameras in different states than where they live, and not able to frequently pull, recharge, and replace.
