Any WKRs live in/near Rapid City SD?

There is a general misconception that South Dakota "has better taxes than most and one of the lowest cost of living." Some areas of the state and perhaps at one time that was true, but anywhere in the Black Hills area that is just not accurate. Yes, we don't pay a state income tax, however...

Mossy Oak Men's Camo Sherpa 2.0 Fleece Lined?

Dan 23 - I have no experience with the pants, but I used the Sherpa 2.0 vest all last year for my insulating layer and it was fantastic. Extremely wind resistant and very warm as well. The face fabric is very quiet and so far seems well made and should last for some time. I have also...

    Do I need a 200 spine arrow?

Fully agree with TxxAgg! Check out the Ranch Fairy on You Tube and he should answer most all of your concerns.

Suppressor Help: 5" vs 7" cans for Hunting

Been using the Harvester 30 on a .300 WM with 24 inch barrel for my primary hunting rig the last few years. Yeah, its a little long, but after the first few outings you are plenty used to it and becomes a non-issue. suppression is very good as is POI. Also use it on the "black" rifles in...

    NE Antelope

"-It is crowded on the grasslands, so if you see someone stalking an animal or a truck parked within view of animals, DO NOT stop to watch, the goats will take off and you'll spoil a stalk. We had it happen/saw it happen a few times. Extremely frustrating.". This one is so true, even in SD...

    South Dakota checking in

Greetings from the Southern Hills. I believe this should help, direct from the SD Regs (they are not the easiest regs to understand :)) EXCEPTIONS: The following persons are eligible for resident licenses: • Any person who previously had a domicile in SD who is absent due to business of the...

    Scarpa Size question

Everything posted above has been spot on. If its between the 42.5 or 43.... go with the 43's, especially if you're going to wear a heavier sock in your Scarpas.

    KUIU

I have found a good pair of gaiters added to my clothing list to be a game changer. I've paired them with Kuiu Attacks when running the hills, and with my Carhartt's or DTC fire hose pants for busting the real thick stuff. Those side vents on the Kuiu's help out a lot as well when layered up...

Budget minded 12x50 or 15x50 Binoculars

I've been using a pair of Burris signature HD's in 12x50 for a couple years now. No complaints and they can be found for a good price if you shop around. Not sure why nobody talks about the Burris line much, either good or bad. They have a solid product and warranty.

    Duluth Pants

X2 on the Black Hills pants, they are awesome. Hopefully they will bring them back again (2nd time they were discontinued). Not sure how the new flexpedition pants compare to the Black Hills pants. I abuse the crap out of the fire hose pants I got too.

    Jackets with windstopper?

Picked up a fleece shirtjac and older model shoreman. I don't believe either are currently carried, but watch the sales for anything with their wind stopper - some of their sale prices can be crazy good deals.

    Jackets with windstopper?

When I need camo I use a Sitka Stratus, its fleece like on the outside and blocks the wind very well. For solids I use some fleece shirts and jackets from Duluth Trading Co. with their windproof liner. Both work very well. Shouldn't have a size/fit issue with DTC either.

    Are outdoor vision gaiters stretchy?

I wouldn't say they are super stretchy or anything. The lower part is a heavier rubbery material and the top half is a lighter somewhat stretchy material. They've been great gaiters that have held up very well so far.

DRIFIRE t-shirts have been my go to for the last few years. Haven't had a smell issue compared to other synthetics.
