    Which Garmin tracking/training collar?

They have a small loop hole in the base to run a lanyard. I have a small piece of parador cinched down to a carabiner which I clip onto a D-ring on my hip belt, it does swing a bit but doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Sometimes I will clip it to the sternum strap of my pack as...

    Victor dog food recall

Have been feeding Max 5 Pro for the last few years and dog has been doing great. Just got a bag delivered in the last couple weeks. Chewy gave a full refund, switching to Inukshuk 30/25 on short notice, but won't be delivered for a few days, so we bought a 5lb bag of blue buffalo to feed for a...

    Grouse forum?

Pluck then spatchcock and cook over coals. These were seasoned with salt and pepper. Leaving meat on the bone, these came out super juicy.

Colorado duck opened this week. Never thought I'd be fortunate enough to see, let alone harvest, one of these.

Looking for a tent for the family

I'm looking at selling my military trailer with RTT and getting this tent or the "regular" one with less windows. The heat for summer camping is why I am leaning towards the VX, but curious if you've used it in the winter? We do a late season hunt and get dumped on with snow every year.

    Favorite frying pan?

I have been using this MSR Quick Skillet for about 10 years now. Weighs in around 6oz. The handle folds in and also disconnects which has been great. I use pot grippers when cooking with it over an open fire. It does get hot really quick due to being so thin, but it really hasn't been an issue...

Collar with a "On Point" indicator

550 ProPlus with the TT15. Easy to use, can operate without having to look at it to make adjustments. I bought a Fenix 5 second hand; damn near perfect system that all works very well together.

    2022 Bird Season(s) Pics

Opportunities to get out have been limited this season with the new baby in the house hold. When I have gotten out I focused on exploring new places closer to home. Empty bags all season until this last trip, while chasing roosters we jumped a mallard out of a creek. Scared the crap out of both...

    Let’s see your bird vests.

Have been out only a few times this season on account of having a newborn. Chasing roosters and jumped this guy out of a creek. First season with the Final Rise Summit, significant upgrade over what I had before.

    Which Garmin tracking/training collar?

I started running the 550 pro plus with a TT15 collar last year and have had zero second thoughts about it. Chose it over the Alpha 10 because my first Garmin collar was a pro 70, which is almost the same remote setup. The ease of use is by far the best part. You can manipulate it and change...

    New to waterfowl.. what gear?

You can have the fanciest and most $$$$ gear/equipment, if the ducks can see you, you won't kill anything. Started duck hunting with a buddy last year. We spent a few nights camping and hunting. The first day and a half we spent building blinds, setting decoys (I bought a mojo because...

    E collar for family dog

I have a 50lb GWP. We use the mini Educator for walks and playing at the park. Can go from 0-100 on stim and has a dedicated vibrate button. The remote is small enough to palm the entire thing with no large antennas sticking out. The collar is very compact and water proof as well. We just use...

    .22LR Snakeshot for Grouse

Carried a .22LR in my bino harness while bear hunting just for this reason. Buy a few different brands/grains of subsonic and make sure they cycle your particular setup. Sub's are pretty darn quiet even without the funny tube attached. Head shots are always best, but shot this one through the...

    Over the Fire

I have wanted to try this but have been too scared to ruin good meat lol I have cooked plenty over an open fire, but never directly on the coals. I'm curious if this is best practiced with red meats that can be cooked rare/med-rare and not poultries and pork that need to be cooked thoroughly...

    Over the Fire

Nice! I do think splitting them open yields the most even cooking. This was the first time I had tried it with any bird and I don't think I'll cook grouse over a fire any other way, came out super juicy. Legs are always tough, need to be slow cooked, but still were good to chew on. Since then I...

    Over the Fire

A thread for campfire/open-fire cooking recipes, ideas, and experiences. We were fortunate enough to get some grouse while bear hunting this past season. Spatch cocked and seasoned with Montreal steak seasoning and some crushed red pepper for heat. Roasted in the basket over a bed of coals...

    Protecting Your Bird Dog?

A good GPS ecollar and a good OFF or LEAVE IT. Just as important, like stated earlier, is to know your dog's mannerisms. Lil man's points and demeanor are different when he's pointing birds vs 4-leggers. For example he's pointed three or four porcupines in tall grass then I'll hear him make a...
