3200.com linked with my kestrel. In my opinion, the optical quality, in the high end stuff, is about the same for the average user, so it came down to other features. Linking up with the kestrel was why I chose the Leica
Last year, having never purchased a rifle of that caliber and never handloaded before, Travis answered every "daily" email I sent him and got me set up and pointed me in the right direction. Aside from the customer service, the rifle he sent me is flawless.
Two shots confirming zero @400...
I havent noticed anything like this.. If anything, RL26 seems to be really clean compared to the 500 series from Vhit.. A video of that would be pretty interesting to see...
Its a Carbon Hunter from RBROS. Its the first rifle Ive loaded for and Im really happy with the results. I went all the way up to 68.6 without any signs of pressure, but I was already way past where I was "supposed" to be, so I backed off some.
probably going to be hard to find, if you don't already have this stuff, but I'm loading the 195 Bergers with RL26 and getting 3000fps +/- a fps or two. Unfortunately, the 195's are hard to find right now, but the 180s seem to be in stock in a lot of places (if you have the powder/primers)...
Took a standard single axle enclosed trailer and built an internal wall just being the side door. Insulated the hell out of all sides, top, bottom with ductboard then hard foam insulation, taped all seams with foil tape. Then put 3/4 plywood on the floor and each season I put a fresh layer of...
yes it did, but it wasnt like I expected.... We found one piece flattened about the size of a dime just prior to the guts. I havent weighed it yet, but Im guessing its around 45-60 grains. Its the first animal Ive shot with this bullet, so im not sure if its the inner core or outer jacket, but...
Got over to Idaho, from Wyoming where I connected at 27 yards. Weather in WY was all over the map and the recent dead falls made getting around tough, but we found enough bugles to make it alot of fun and me and my partner went 2 for 2. Now I'm just praying nobody steals my generator that runs...
Bought a 7Mag from Travis last month and dove into hsndloading for the first time. I found a solid load with the 195 EOL pretty quick and stacked a couple on top of each other at 400 once I got out to Wyoming to validate some drop info. Feeling pretty good and confident at most any range, I...
The websites you hear all the time end up having thousands of guys waitlisted for copious amounts, so even if they get in a thousand pounds its hit or miss if you will get any. I found some retumbo a month ago, while I was in afghanistan, at reloading unlimited and ended up talking to the guy...
thanks. That seems to be around the averages in the published stuff I've seen. I know I'm over the very little RL26 data out there, but my cases look the same as they did out of the box, minus a marking that has been exactly the same on everything I fire on it. The bolt lift has remained...
Ive only shot about 30 rounds of development with this new 7mag, but so far Im getting really good results with 69.5 grains of RL26 and the 180VLD at 3110fps. I havent seen any pressure signs so Im going to see if I can push it up to 70.5, which will push it at 3150ish, but Ill have to see what...
Im diving into reloading with a new 7 mag and am surprised by the speeds Im getting and am curious if anyone else is seeing these speeds. Ive read in numerous places the top end is around 3k with the 160-180 bullets but Im getting much higher.. Im using a new magneto V3, so Im believing the...
Swarovski Z5--5-25X52 is around 18oz and is what I have on my ultralight rifle.. The tube is only 1inch, but for that weight its hard to expect much else. Now they make the Z5i line as well.. I just put a VariX 6 on this latest rifle though..
Ok, thanks for the info. Im leaning towards one of the Leica options for sure because it sounds like a very convenient way to utilize the kestrel. I just hope I dont sacrifice optical performance in the binocular in order to link with a kestrel Ill use rarely, at best.
Yeah, Im tracking all that. Im just curious if the link feature has made a big impact in how you use the kestrel vs before you had the link capes... I should have worded that previous question better than what I did... sorry about that..
Thanks. Do you just get the correction off of the rangefinder or do you still go to the kestrel for that info? I know it links and shows the solution in the viewer, but do you find yourself still going to the kestrel or do you just turn it on and never mess with it again?
Preciate the words. And yeah, I tried to get stuff I wouldnt want to upgrade away from in the future. How I did will play out over time I guess. Like everything, everyone has good and bad experiences with each piece of equipment, and since reloading takes so many parts and pieces, its been...
