Loss of Zero - Should Have Known

If you were using a rifle without bedding it very well could also be that it was a shift in the mating between action and stock. The force of pressing down on the barrel and stock in uneven ground can certainly shift poi.

If you’re shooting 14x dial it down to 8-10 mag. Shoot a bigger group with match ammo.

Looking For Suggestions - (Elk) Mountain Rifle Build Shooting Copper

Tikka rough tech in 30-06 comes with a 20 inch barrel to help you with OAL when you screw a can on and already threaded tube. Lots of mono options and you should have plenty of velocity at 400 to still be safe for monos opening. If it was me would prefer the T3X lite stainless and get...

They are even harder to find than large rifle up here. One of the reasons I went with the 6.5 PRC was load data called for non magnum primers.

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

Ok thanks @Wrongside. If you can PM me details on how you import that would be appreciated. Does not seem that will help at the moment anyways. The other scopes you’re mentioning I have somewhat already addressed in original post.

    Tikka Woes

Depending on the DNZ rings the ring screws need much higher torque than most people think according to them. You might already have that managed but just a flat in case you have not.

    Lowest tikka t3 pic rail

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

Didn’t realize you were holding low. Makes more sense now.

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

5 inches high at 150 coupled with a 2 moa field shooter is probably going to result in a lot of misses inside 300.

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

I did ask you for a suggested scope without limitation, but ok.

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

Thanks Form. Generally this response was useful but I will make clear that I did not request you to coddle me. Was looking for some legitimate discussion on this thought. Your point regarding a scope that holds zero/dials correctly I agree. Why deal with two variables that lead to inaccuracy...

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

Yes. They don't have any dealer here and Obama added them to the list of "bad things" when he was in office. So can't be imported directly.

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

Yes agreed. If you read OP would note that scope is not accessible for me or others north of the US.

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

Agreed. But with the reality that most guys are shooting Leupold/vortex/Burris/Zeiss etc… and don’t require/afford an NX8 is that still holding true?

Can holdover be more accurate than dialing in a hunting scope?

Well I probably was shooting cartridges larger then I could shoot well in the past and less proficient marksmen, but I have found that I missed a lot of deer with the “3 inches high at 100” method. I switched to 100 yard zero on rifles and have not missed since. Something closer to an MPBR might...
