Did you stay with the stock Williams sites? It may be an issue with the front site height. I'm about halfway up with the replacement Williams sights and am shooting 2 inches high at 50 with the same loads and triple 7. Haven't shot it at 100 but have plenty of room to move it. May be worth a...
Yes the globe fiber optic front sight is awesome. Reportedly you can just buy the front sight. In the past the rear sight wasn't tall enough and you had to buy the set. I just saw a thread that muzzle loaders . com said it was fixed?
The front and rear globe sights are like looking down a zero...
I switched the open sights to the Williams with the front fiber optic globe. I've been shooting Triple 7 100 grains (can't find Blackhorn) and both Powerbelt 330 Platinum and the Hornady Bore Driver ELDX 340. Both shooting > 0.5 inches at 50 yards. Actually had the ELDX shoot the same hole! I'm...
I have never liked the Anarchy style brakes on my rifles. Always have better recoil reduction with the muzzle loaders style.
I've seen threads stating the the stock rear peep didn't have enough travel to work with the Williams front sight. They may have fixed that issue????
Muzzle-Loaders™ Muzzle Brake - .50 Caliber - 3/4x24 Threads - MZ1502 Its just like my SRS TI Pro's on my rifles.
I got the MR-X with the open sites and replaced with the front and rear Williams site with the fiber optic front globe. I'll use it this year in CO and then get a rail and...
ElkIvory just put a muzzle rake on my MR-X today. Hope to shoot it on the next couple of days. Love my muzzle brakes on a 300 win mag and 7 mm mag! Just remember to wear hearing protection!!!!!!!
Just put one on my MR-X and the front sight issue has been resolved, fit flush. I really like the sight. I have not shot open sights in forever, but shooting > 0.5 inch groups at 50 yards so far. Getting ready for a hunt in CO this year.
I've had 2 pairs for several years, use them elk hunting in CO, hiking in TN and work. They have held up great. I've used 1 pair in some nasty chemical environments at work and no issues.
Thanks.
With my rifles it is recommend to drop all copper bullet weight and increase velocity in order to assure bullet expansion. Is this the same for muzzle loader? Do I need to shoot a 110 or a 120 with triple 7 or does it just depend on what my gun likes????
Found this in a thread last year from a BPI rep. "A fast twist is a 1 in 18 to a 1 in a 24. The fast twist guns shoot heavy bullet’s better than say a 1 in 28 twist which is the industry’s standard. My experience has shown slow twist guns like 225,250 and 275 work best in a 1 in 28 and fast...
I have both. Both are very nice. When I know I'm going to do a lot of sitting and glassing long distance in CO I take the 9x45's for hiking or cruising for elk I like the B1.2s smaller, lighter. When deer hunting in TN I've only used the B1.2s.
The last 2 trips to CO I've only used the b1.2s. I...
