    Cabela's shopping list

The co-ax is a nice press but it sucks for priming. I recommend the RCBS bench primer as it’s easier on the hands for longer sessions. Walnut or corncob it doesn’t matter functionally. Add a small bottle of polish to your list. Case trimmer is personal. Nothing wrong with starting out with...

Tumbler - Dillon Large with Squirrel Cage. Wet tumble if you want really shiny. Media - Harbor Freight for walnut media, local pet supply for corncob. Get the finest size that won’t stick in your primer pockets. Case trimmer - touchy subject but for volume precision Giraud. Wilson for...

    Winchester Featherweight experience?

Got two newer ones from the FN Portugal factory in 308. They are extremely accurate right out of the box and really like the 165 gr bullets. With no mods I’m clover leading with Hornady factory Ammo. The wood isn’t as pretty as the older ones but then again you can find the featherweights...

Winchester M70 extreme weather will fit your bill nicely. The rifles coming out of the FN plant are slick as snot and even better IMHO than the older M70’s. If your gonna replace the stock then look at getting a stainless steel sporter in the caliber you want and just selling the wood stock.

    Jon boat trailering

I’ve owned a number of boats through the years and was a diehard fisherman. Here are some thoughts: Please find a way to utilize a transom saver. You may need to look into an angled transom saver or chop something down and create a custom one. I’ve seen enough transoms with cracks in it...

    Win70 pre64 - lightweight stock options

Got a 308 Winchester featherweight. Slapped a 14 oz scope on with Talley rings. Ordered and installed a McMillan featherweight stock with the edge fill. Rifle weighs 8 lbs fully loaded, scopes and slung. It feels perfect and has just enough weight to make offhand shots easier. If you wanna...

    Best Wood Stock Rifle

Don’t get the super grade m70. Local shop has a few and I wouldn’t want to scratch them. They are way too pretty imo to take hunting. And they are heavier than necessary. You can get a regular blued featherweights NIB for less thAn $700 online. Stock is plain jane though.

Glock 20 modifications for backcountry carry

Have you called underwood? They are pretty helpful guys and have a lot of experience in this matter. I’ve tested all of the heavy weights from underwood in two of my Glock 10mm’s and never had any issues with all factory components. Sucks this is happening to you.

Stick the factory barrel back in and try some more of that underwood first before doing anything. Betcha it’ll feed just fine.

Glock 20 modifications for backcountry carry

Double tap really doesn’t chrony at their stated velocities. Here’s a YouTube video of someone doing chrony work with double tap. I’ve found that Underwood’s stuff is close on speed on my own chrony.

Ameriglo Pro Glo .120 width front sight and ameriglo plain black rears. I have both orange and yellow fronts and prefer the yellow. I have no problems with moly coated lead bullets out of my stock G40 barrel. I’m over 20k rounds with my practice gun with a 200 grain lead bullet traveling over...

    Top two mountain cartridges

    Rifle #1: 25-06 / .270 / 6.5 Creedmore Rifle #2: 30-06 / 300 Winmag 30 win mag is a bit much for me personally but if you can handle the recoil I don’t see a reason to get a 338.

    Another "which would you choose"?

On a Remington action the bolt can flop open when slung and going through vegetation. Know folks that had to walk back to find their rounds on the ground. Winchester safety is louder unless you take your whole hand off and pinch the lever to slowly put it on fire. But it’s more protected from...

    A little slick trick.

That’s a lot slicker than a bit of tape. Thanks.
