    Oregon draw results are up

What’s the snow level like? We are heading over that way on the 21st. Not quite as far but far enough that snow could be an issue. Love seeing elk no matter what time of year. If we see piles of elk in a couple weeks instead of bears and turkeys it’s still a successful week.

Anyone that drew a tag been out yet? Interested in what it’s been like since the opener.

    Weird Racks

Great trophies! For you PNW guys any of those bulls have signs of hoof rot and we’re any harvested with a legal spike only tag? In OR a legal spike is one visible unbranched antler. Brow tine does not count as an antler branch in spike only areas.

The same to you. We were over there in 2022 at about 5k feet the week before turkey opener. We actually left on the 15th because of the snow. We could have killed 2 toms the first day in camp from our trailer door. Those birds were in camp every day.

Drew an eastside. Hopefully we don’t get hit with a big snow storm like we did in 2022.

Off Season to Become Better Hunter

Get out and work out. I get lazy and complacent. When hunting season rolls around the laziness doesn’t automatically go away. If I’m in hunting shape it doesn’t matter if I kill something as long as I was able to hunt hard. Physically And mentally. Hunt small game, set trail cams and check on...

Shooting an animal across state lines?

I was watching a sheep hunt on YT where they were hunting Hells Canyon. Tag holder had an Oregon tag. Guide found a ram on the OR side of the canyon but took the hunter across the river into Idaho to get a better vantage point to judge the ram. Was probably bad editing but it looked as if the...

Truck Air Bags Offroad and Lifted

Ok that makes sense. That’s a lot of damage to that big truck. Hopefully you and occupants if any were unharmed.

    Any good Molle revolver holsters?

I currently use a MR pistol holster for my SP101 3” barrel on my old style Pinter pack belt. Have never had a problem. The revolver sits deep in the holster so I’m not worried about losing it, I hate kydex but put a Venandi holster on my “Santa list”. Kydex makes so much noise. I hate my gear...

    Retractable blade knives

can you take apart an OTF to clean it? I would have never thought about using an OTF for field dressing but I can see some of the pros.

MKC Blackfoot or Benchmade Steep Country

I have an Argali Serac and the BM SC. Used the Argali on a small blacktail this season. I wasnt blown away by the Argali. I felt like I had to touch it up a couple times more than I have my Benchmade. Also prefer the ergos of the Benchmade more. The Argali will be my backup.

When do you own the area?

I’ve had a run in at a gated road where my dad and I were in my truck waiting about 15 min before heading up the road. A truck pulls in behind us so I get out and ask which road they were heading up, we would head the other direction. The main road lead to 4 other skid roads, One of the guys...

    Multi-Season Elk tag Washington?

Except WDFW messed up in 2022 in the way they conducted the left over tag draw for the next guys in line. I received my notification that I was chosen in the back up draw for multi season deer 2 days into the rifle season. Which didn’t leave much hunting opportunity after the rifle season to...

Who makes a good assisted opening EDC knife?

A lot of good choices mentioned but some are not assisted flippers. OP is there a physical issue that you deal with that limits you to an actual assisted opening knife? The BM Bugout is a great EDC although not a true assisted opening knife. However the axis lock does make it a super fast...

    All around midweight boot recommendations?

Crispi Lapponia has been a great boot for me. I also have a pair of Crispi Nevadas but the Lapponia is my go to. Light weight and stiff enough. Never cold and never wet here in the PNW. They are now the Lapponia II but I’m sure they are still a great all around boot.

    Cheap Stuff that Works

I have pairs from both Walmart and Target and although similar, they really aren’t the same style of pant. The ones I have the best success with are the “5 Pocket” style. Which are more like jeans, with the back pockets sewn on externally. The stitching seems to hold up better. I do feel...
