    Recession Coming?

I live in one of those states that people flocked to over the last couple of years. The influx drove our home prices sky high. Now the housing market has gone stale here because the major moving has already been done. Inflation is bad enough that I've given all my employees raises to try and...

    Anyone with Honey bees?

Beekeeping is super addictive so just a heads up. A few basic principles I stole from another beekeeper Kamon Reynolds: dead mites, strong queens and good nutrition and you will be successful.

Where are my penny pinchers? Budget time

I haven't read through all 5 pages so maybe my advice has already been said. Walmart pick up will save a ton. When you go shopping at Walmart or Target and you have a list, very seldom does one walk out with only the items on your list. Using Walmart pickup eliminates all the unnecessary...

Figuring out how to enjoy life

This thread really hits home for me. I've spent the last 17 years building a business from the ground up. Me and my wife were dirt poor for a good portion of that but the ridiculous hours and stress have really paid off for the last few years. Now I've got 2 kids and I don't get to see them...

How much money do you spend?

I'm a minimalist so not much here. I've got to prioritize where my money goes so I'd rather go on vacation somewhere with the family than have a fifth hunting rifle that basically does the same thing my other 4 do. I've always told my wife we can have experiences or we can have stuff but we...

Mans best friend - shooting vs euthanasia

We just had our cat put down at the vet and I promised my wife we would never do that again. It was basically a half an hour of torture for the cat. My next one I'll make it quick and painless the way they deserve.

Who's buying a vehicle before the Fed increases interest rates more?

I tend to look at things in longer blocks of time. At the end of 5 years how much money is going to exit my checking account. New vehicle $40,000+ current vehicle $5000. I'm hanging on to my current vehicle.

    Russia and the U.S??

Politicians on both sides of the aisle make tons of money off war so that's what they want. China and Russia have now formed an unholy alliance against Western Europe and us. They will eventually squash us without firing a single shot. If we really wanted to end the war in Ukraine we would...

Wiping blood on the face of a new hunter

I killed my first deer at my grandpa's hunting camp when I was just a kid. This was well before the invention of the smart phone. The older guys all made a big deal out of my first deer (doe) and one of them swiped a little blood on my face just for fun. It wasn't anything superstitious but...

    Side Hustle

My side hustle is beekeeping. It started as a hobby and has grown almost into a full time job. I wholesale honey. My primary job is mental so I wanted a side hustle that is physical.

    College Help

I have come to the conclusion I did things the wrong way when I went to school. It seemed that class and my full time job to be able to pay for school took up so much time I rarely got to go hunting. I did always save a few bucks to fly to Colorado every year at Labor day to chase elk with a...

    Heart attack?

My father in law had a heart attack at age 52. Healthy and active. Ended up getting a stint and was actually more active after that because he felt better. I wouldn't let a stint and blood thinners affect backwoods hardcore hunting. Keep a phone or sat phone on you in case you get in trouble...

    Southeastern hunters

They might be heading for areas with less pressure or if there is an abundance of does they might not have to do much chasing. Have y'all thought about a sanctuary where no one is allowed to go? Also, it might be a good time to do a doe round up and get the ratio closer to 1:1 or even 2:1 in...

Pros/Cons of where you have lived

SE Louisiana Pros: Duck hunting, red and speck fishing are all really good. Cons: Lots of poverty and not much economic opportunity. The landscape is really flat and not all that diverse. SE Tennessee Pros: A fair amount of job opportunity (although not a ton of high paying jobs). Diverse...

    Living in Tennessee vs Georgia

I live outside of Chattanooga and my brother and sister live outside Atlanta. There are no advantages that Atlanta has to Chattanooga. Taxes and cost of living are substanially higher in Georgia. There is decent hunting in E Tennessee.

Do you hunt to fill the freezer?

I hunt for the fun and the meat so when the freezer is full I get really selective on what I shoot and then fill my parents freezer. If I am out freezer space between me and my parents I'll only shoot a monster and then I'll donate the meat to hunters for the hungry. I've never had to do this...

Patagonia donated to fight climate change

I've read all the posts and I've come to the conclusion I always come to. All of us care about animals and pollution and keeping the earth clean and livable. The difference in the two camps is naivete. The one's pulling the strings at the top actually know that the crap they spew about going...

Zero turn mowers / hydrostatic transmissions

I've had the Toro Titan Max with a 60 inch deck for a few weeks so take this with a grain of salt. Very impressed so far. Everything seems to be well built. It is kind of in between residential and commercial. I probably needed commercial but my wallet didn't want me to.

How Much PTO Do You Have?

I'm doing something wrong. I might get a week off total this year and it will be unpaid. My problem is that I am the owner and too cheap to hire someone else so that I can take off more time. I need to get my work/personal time in order.

    Kids first vehicle……

A 1996 Kawasaki KE 100 dual sport motorcycle. Rode it for 2 years rain or shine while I saved money for a 2001 Ford Ranger single cab manual 4 cylinder. I had never been so happy to not have to ride a motorcycle in the rain ever again.
