What’s the worst kind of steep?

If you wanna simulate it just wrap a bungee cord around your ankles next time you go for a hike. I was actually just having this debate in my head last week when I got to a certain part of the mountain and thought maaaan, this is the worst part...I came to the conclusion that there really is no...

Most Comfortable Vehicle for Forest Roads

Trailhawk cherokee is quite comfy. Suspension eats up the bumps pretty well, it crawls up rough trails without issue, room in the back to sleep, AC and vented seats for the hot days and heated seats/steering wheel for the cold mornings. Plus it gets decent MPGs especially considering its off...

    Fall Bear Calling

I personally have never had any luck getting a bear to do anything other than stop and look for a second or two in the fall...have called quite a few in with both distress calls and huffs but always in the spring.

    Anyone tried bear?

If you're not making slow cooked shanks out of those you're missing out fella! Something to keep in mind is bear fat can go rancid fairly quickly even in a deep freezer so be sure to get the meat as fat free as possible before packaging, I think that's where a lot of claims of bad bear meat...

How many people are happy running a single kifaru pack for all situations? Which is your go to?

I find myself going with the reckoning for everything these days.

How far is your average bear shot

<30 yards, never shot one farther than that and I've shot them as close as 7. Bears are typically not difficult to get close to and in my opinion shooting one from long range just robs yourself of the incredible experience of shooting one up close and personal and feeling that death moan in your...

What have you done for weight loss today?

Imagine asking that question to a caveman. Me and @5MilesBack must be the only fools actively trying to gain weight on a daily basis in the off season, with my metabolism if I wanna lose weight I just go hunting for a couple days.

    The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

Took profits on a portion of my GTE holdings yesterday, I won't quite be buying a boat with it like my man @Broomd but a huge tip of the hat to him for giving me the confidence I needed to ride out some stormy days on that ship. Any thoughts on a revised exit plan for yourself with the current...

I guess we need a 2022 fitness goal thread!

500lb squat, I may have to gain another 15lbs to get the rest of the way there but I think I can get it this year...315 bench is right around the corner as well but I think I'm more amped on the squat. I may huff and puff my way through the hunting season with this power belly but at least I'll...

Wildfires: How old should they be?

Natural burns typically happen in summer/early fall. I would say as long as the fire wasn't too intense then by the following spring it should be more productive than before, although over the years more and more bears will get used to targeting it as a spring/summer food source. Sweet spot in...

Wildfires: How old should they be?

I have a spot that was burned around 2007 that is still very productive for bears...just getting damn hard to see them in a lot of spots in there. Ideally 1-5 years for the sake of visibility but depending on the vegetation burns can be bear magnets for a long time.

    The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

See you on the moon brother! Anyone else here riding the VET wave? I believe it was around $10 when I first mentioned it here, it hit $30 and climbing this morning. That's in canadian pesos but I'm not complaining, between that and GTE I'm smiling today. Saw this article last week, no idea how...
