Vets refusing to work on hunting dogs

It is encouraging to hear most are not having to deal with this. Hope that continues.

Vets refusing to work on hunting dogs

There is a thread currently active where folks are talking about injuries to their dogs and how they were injured. I didn’t want to derail the thread so asking separately. Has anyone had issues with a vet refusing to work on your dogs? I listened to a podcast recently with a mountain lion...

    Has your dog been injured?

What are those things sticking out of the stitched cuts? Glad the pooch came out okay.

    Photography- one photo a day

I unknowingly flushed a Turkey hen off her nest today. I stopped to check my onX and she took off about 7ft away from me. This is what she was sitting on:

    Truck Topper for camping

I picked up a 6.5ft bed F-150 and put a Leer mid high cap on it. I’m 5’ 11” and fit in fine. My mattress/pad is Therm A Rest MondoKing 3D. 72” and it just fits when the tailgate closes due to how my bed frame is constructed. I can sit on the bed frame with mattress inflated and only need to duck...

What do you all do to fight the ticks during spring

Permethrin. Been using it the last three years for spring Turkey and have had only one tick on me. And I think that was because I wasn't wearing OTC socks. Treat everything you will wear. Picaridin. Even with Permethrin treated clothes I'll still spray Picaridin on my boots and knees to bottom...

    I'm a slow butcherer...

I think this is a good tutorial on how to debone and clean up a deer. Curious what you think about his process/technique compared to yours and the amount of trimming he does compared to you. You can fast forward to “preparing the saddle”and “preparing the legs” to see how he does it. Looks...

CO Firearms Discussion - Help Needed!

There won’t be for long the way things are moving in some states including CO. The attack on traditional funding of fish and game departments will see to it. All those hunters no longer hunting in CO will end up in other states and dilute the experience in them. We can only absorb so much loss.

How do you deal with suicide....

My wife’s cousin shot himself. Left a little baby behind. He was on medication for depression some feel contributed. I have a cousin who has tried and he shows signs he will try again someday. One of my sister’s best friends hung herself. She was a friend of mine too. No one saw it coming...

The quest for the right mid weight pants

Haha. I used to have strong legs. Never big legs though. Born skinny. I use three pair but mostly wear my KUIU Peloton 97. I can get by with those and the Kutana pants down to the mid to low 30’s in the stand. They seem to have a high warmth to weight ratio. Mid weight I use Pro Merino 200 and...

The quest for the right mid weight pants

Sounds like my thigh is probably the size of your calf, lol. So can’t really recommend a pant that works in that area. But I tend to choose a light pant weight and let the base layer take care of the warmth part. I wear KUIU Katana’s, my favorite pant, year round and have three base layer levels...

What Fletching glue are you all using.

Blue top Gorilla. Tube stays good for months after opening. I buy the smallest tubes vs a bottle. Great adhesion and dries quickly enough to not slow down the fletching process. Affordable. I’ve never lost a fletching or even had one start to peel. I do have to scrape off residue when changing...

Ford 5.0L V8 vs EcoBoost: High mileage experience?

Well it has been awhile since I posted this thread. It has received a lot of good input with more rolling in. I’ll do the courtesy of posting what I ended up with. I said I am a keep it simple kind of guy so Im going to eat a little crow. I ended up with a 2023 F-150 XLT PowerBoost. The most...

    Mike Tyson VS Jake Paul

I feel the thing may be rigged to the max and the choreography is written. But I hope it isn’t and Iron Mike has something left to give Paul a mouthful of the fury of Tyson of old. it won’t be this, lol:

Day hunting out of the truck?

Some really good, helpful input from everyone in this thread. Great post OP. Good you are being realistic about it all. Every time I skied in Breckenridge it took me two full days to acclimate to the altitude. Head stuffy to the max, dry as a bone, slight headache. Every morning I had to blow my...

    Lithium deposit found near Gunnison

Countries investing in other countries resources isn’t exploiting them. Albemarle is the largest lithium mining company in the world. It is a US company. It owns mining rights in Chile, Australia, and the US. Albemarle pays major bucks to those countries to mine those deposits. Those countries...

    Kuiu kutana vs attack

The Kutana are lighter and much more durable. Hold up to tears and picking much better. I have no picks or tears in mine after wearing them all season in the whitetail woods. I’ve climbed trees, gone through briars, snagged on old fences. With the right base layer I can wear them from them from...
