    Opening Day Antelope Archery

Today I was successful with my first antelope archery in Wyoming. (I was hunting an HMA and ranch rules required me to wear all that orange.) It was a low shot at 50 yards but double lungs and no guts so happy about that. Anyone else successful today?

Kuiu Pro 6000 or Mystery Ranch Beartooth 80?

You will find quite a lot of complaints on Kuiu packs throughout Rokslide. I would go with a Mystery Ranch. If Kuiu and Mystery Ranch is your price range, I’d definitely take a look a Seek Outside’s packs. The bags are interchangeable and they can haul loads comfortably.

Do western hunters long for eastern hunts

Growing up in Alabama I loved whitetail, turkey, squirrel, etc. hunting but after joining the military and being stationed in Alaska and now Wyoming, I don’t really find Eastern hunting as exciting. Sitting in a tree stand or shooting house doesn’t really feel as humbling and satisfying as back...

    Merino wool base layers

Merino wool definitely lives up to the hype especially when compared to under armour or other nylon poly materials. I personally think FL is the most soft/comfortable. I will stink out under armour in a day but I can get several days out of merino wool.

    Backcountry Charging Devices

I just use the cheap ones from Walmart that are pretty lightweight about 8 oz. I get about 2 full charges out of it and that’s plenty since I only keep my GPS on when I actually need it.

Best 0 degree budget sleeping bag?

Hyke and Byke down bags on Amazon are actually really great. They’re about $100-$150 and with an insulated sleeping pad you won’t be cold. The quality is actually pretty good for the cost and they pack down really well.

    Best Bang for buck Tripod

I’ve been very impressed with the Benro SLIM Carbon Fiber Tripod. It won’t break the bank and I would compare the quality to much higher end carbon fiber tripods that I’ve used. The carbon fiber costs about $100 and weighs 2.2lbs. The only thing I dislike is the head, but it’s not a deal...
