    South Carolina opening day gobbler

This morning is the private land opener in the game zone where I live and hunt in South Carolina. I hunted a relatives farm not far from where I live this AM and didn’t hear a single gobble. It didn’t surprise me, we’ve got a low pressure system moving in so I went to where I had seen a good...

    Muzzy hogs

Just finished up a primitive weapons hunt here is SC. I shot these two first morning of the hunt with my muzzleloader. Could have shot several more but had more pork than I wanted. I weighed the sow at the check station and she was 120 on the nose. Didn’t weigh the boar. Guesstimate was 250-300.

    Morning quickie

I was pulling out of my drive this morning to go to work and noticed some turkeys in the field beside my house. About the time i got binos on them, a couple went into full strut. Pulled back up drive, ran in and grabbed my gun, leafy jacket, and box call. I used a fence row to get within 100...

    Muzzleloader Sow

I shot this 70 pound sow with my old 700 ML on a local WMA primitive weapon hunt. 250 gr Barnes over 100 grains of Triple 7 knocked her flat. Found a group of them rooting up a hardwood bottom scouting. Went back the next morning and killed this one.

    WY Type 2 Leftovers

I usually hunt WY 23 or 24 on a type 2 tag. Out of curiosity I checked the leftover list And there are none. I can’t believe that many folks have secured access to private land??? Do they just buy a tag and hope for the best??? Seems like a really poorly thought out plan.

I met a some longtime friends for the south zone TX opener. Had a great hunt and everyone killed birds. I hunted solo Sunday morning worked these birds for about an hour before them and two more long beards committed and ended up at 10 yds beating up on my jake decoy. I finally had a clear shot...

    Oblivious

I was just checking my zero for a match next weekend in a field behind my house. I’ve got a piece of steel at 350 and a doe was feeding about 200 yds out between me and the steel. He never reacted to the muzzle blast but would stop feeding and look at the steel when it rang. Season ended Jan 1st.

    CO Muzzy Prep

Sighting in with 300 gr Thors over 777 in preparation for CO Muzzy elk. 50 yds to get on paper. I’ll back it up to 100 this afternoon when my honey do list is complete. It’s nice to live out in the sticks and be able to shoot in the back yard. 3 sighters and 3 right above the dot.
