    I was keeping a close eye on the counts also and could not find a correlation to what was happening. Some regular deer tags were gone instantly. Later in the morning with most elk tags gone of course the numbers were dropping by thousands as people lost hope.

    I respectfully disagree. I have been in the waiting room twice in previous years. Once the phone lines went down supposedly and i was disconnected and tried to get back in all day.... about 6 finally did... sorry all gone. The next year I was in the waiting room and nothing the rest of the day...

    I would think you would be happy with that ratio any season.. I really hunted hard but no results like that.. I had a lot of fresh snow on and off but never had much sign up high the entire hunt

    thanks - i will look at it. I have used Top Rut, very helpful. This whole business has just gotten to complicated and out of control.. You used to be able to apply, get your tags, and the locals would point you in the right direction. Funny i still see some of those people. Thanks

    in approaching an outfitter about private lands hunt where do you start for parts of the state ... north east - southeast ... etc. I have spent the last week looking at Unit stats and the slim draw odds. Do the outfitters only have access to specific regions?

    What Outfitter did you use? I am currently planning on taking my son elk hunting next year - 2019 -and would love to do NM but have not come across a draw area that might ... might give-up two tags.. Even if i could get the outfitter to guide me through the draw choice it would be very helpful..
